Missing Hard Drive Space

    just had to format and reinstall windows and for some reason my computer says the hard drive size is half of what it should be. it was 250 gigs before installation, now 121 gigs

    anyone know whats happening and how to fix it?

    What os are you using?

    Could be that you need a service pack to enable big disk support.

    Windows XP Pro
    SATA
    NTFS

    need anything else
    i'll install the service packs now to see if they make any difference

    Right click on your my computer icon, and select Manage. Go to you Disk Management section to see what's going on with it.

    That should do it allright.
    Win '98 SE and Win 2K Professional are the only versions that really support large hard disks.
    XP Pro has cobbled-together support for it with SP2.
    Might be difficult to configure it while your system is running off the same drive, you'll have to have it partitioned.

    You need to have sp1 installed on XP to see drives bigger than 121 gig. Install sp2 which has sp1 rolled into it and when its installed, you will see the full size of your drive.
