    Hiya

I have to recommend Aaron Rider Training. He is absolutely brilliant, and everyone I've said it to has come back to me with glowing reports. He trained me, and I passed my test no problem. He has bikes for hire - a 125, a 250 cruiser and a CB500, so whatever you need, he can look after you.

The trainer is Peter, his no. is 086-1739654, and website www.aaronridertraining.com

Have a look and see what you think.

I did a course (after my I passed my test) with http://www.msa-ireland.com/

I found it very very useful, they also do pre-test half day courses.

Try the Irish Rider Training Association ( I think IRTA.com or .ie). If you fancied going to Swords I can't recommend highly enough the Star Rider course run by Fingal Co. Co.

*Edit* Go to the Irish Rider Training at - http://www.irishridertraining.com/
I can highly recommend Terry Cronin, I got some lessons from him before my own test!

Stay away from Irish School of Motoring, they were very bad. I failed my first test because of them! Woeful!

I cannot recommend "easy rider training" highly enough.

I've been riding about five years and finally did my driving test today (long story involving expired licenses before!!) and passed with only two grade one errors and one grade two which isn't shabby at all.

I went for a pretest with the instructer and beforehand thought I'm not going to learn anything..afterall I was already on the road on the bike about 5 years..boy was I wrong.

He was brilliant, beforehand he went around my bike and asked me everything that a tester might ask on the day and told me what was the correct answers..and the tester didn't ask one question that he hadn't already prepared me for.

He then took me around the local area and I had to follow and mimic what he was doing.
I then had to go round and he would give me instructions through the radio set (exactly like the one on the test) and afterwards he pointed out my weaknesses and where I was plain wrong and we went out and did it again.
At the end he gave me a synopsis of areas he fealt I was still a bit weak on (old habits die hard) and to make sure I was aware of this when doing the real thing.

The test went fine and I was really really glad that I had done the pretest, apart from anything else it left me feeling comfortable about someone following me and giving instructions and exactly what the right way was to do a U-Turn, the corect way to wheel a bike forward and backwards etc etc..too many things to mention..everything he covered was bang on and nearly all of it came up on the exam. There wasn't one question that the examiner asked me that he hadn't prepared me for already.

So unreservedly, thumbs up to easy rider training and Dave the instructer, best €125 euro i've spent in a long while!!

My test was in the Churchtown, on the southside, testing branch but afaik Dave covers pretty much all of Dublin.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

this is who I used! Dave Lyons was superb. I cant speak of this guy highly enough. He totally prepared me for the test which I done yesterday. I echo everything longfield has said. He totally prepared me in ever aspect. From Dave I got a 250 for the pretest and used it for my test. It all cost 225 euro and it was money well spent as I passed my test yesterday first time of trying :)

    congrats!!

I used Dave Lyons myself last summer. I had done a pre test with ISM and wasn't that impressed. I felt like I was dragging the info out of them instead of them teaching me. Anyway called DL and he did one pretest on the day of the test and covered everything I needed. Passed with ease aswell.

Congrats darkbeatz. I'm gonna ring DL too. He seems to be the man to call. I haven't got a date yet but the guy in Ballina said around June. Is the 3 hr pretest really enough?

well it was for me and I'm only driving a bike 15 months. Generally its not a bad test but as I had a few bad habits I really had to work on them before the test. Make sure you do the pretest with DL a few days before the test so you can get loads of practice in. The two things I had to work on was shoulder checking and road positioning. Best of luck.
