you wear a costum? spell check0r ftw!

Only kidding. It depends how much the board is to start with, I think anything over €50 euro, its going to cost you..how much I would have no idea. Ask the seller to mark it down as a "gift", sometimes that lowers the customs duty on it.

    Costume as in clown suit
Customs as in waste of money

It won't be free I'll tell ya that much. I've heard it's expensive.

21% plus handling fee on anything over €24...it really depnds what method the sender uses to mail them, how much he declares on the customs slip and how astute the customs guy on duty that day is.
You could argue that it's sports equipment or toys which may have a lower rate or be VAT exempt...I'm not too sure.

Either way it'll still work out cheaper than buying here, since any shop selling would also be importing and making a mark up.

You'll most likely get caught for excise duty, VAT and a handling charge (about €40). The killer is the VAT is added after the excise duty is added so you pay vat on the excise duty aswell, if you know what I mean. The ammount you get charged depends on the total value of the shipment.
It also depends on the courier used. DHL, UPS and the likes will charge but you may escape if it's sent via USPS. They use AnPost as delivery agent Ireland and they are hit and miss about putting stuff through customs.
I found an interesting loop hole but never used it. A wedding present up to the value of €1000 is exempt from excise duty:) .
I only ever buy from the states when what I want can't be got anywhere else. See if you can get them in Europe. The price may be higher but it could work out cheaper in the long run.

    Buying in Ireland....EXPENSIVE.

Getting it from the US and getting caught for customs....LESS EXPENSIVE

Sourcing from within the EU and getting a good deal......PRICELESS :):):)

Try a French/German(same currency) site in the future as all these types of websites are very easy to navigate if you put a little time into it.
Shipping from there should be max €20 and no more worries.

Used to get thing from Germany on a very frequent baisis.
