    Hi de ho :D

Haven't actually posted in a while, but figured i fancied some feedback/criticism/advice.

My poker playing has taken a bit of a plunge cos of the new job and general lack of time to play. So I decided to start the whole online thingymabob.

Have been playing Boylesports since before Xmas and have become quite fond of it. Playing Cheap sit n go's, and getting into the money, i would say 70% of the time, ok so that money is only $5 or $6, but hey, it's nice to be winning little games like that! But I recently got online in the new house and decided to give the online thing a proper go, ye know, play within my bankroll n all that jazz.

Now poker for me has always been more of a social fun thing as opposed to make money, so i was never a big roller. So I lodged €50 to my account. ANd headed to the .5/.10 tables. Within 4 days, I had my account up to $112. Happy was I. But I've finally hit one of those slumps that we all hear about!
was back down to $40 before I knew what hit me. Between getting an awful run of cards, and getting outdrawn on outrageoous calls, the last week or two have been a dread.

Played my first pub tourney the other day, cousin of mine was running one, myself and DubTony headed over (who placed 3rd, Congrats buddy :)) But I must have played 4 hands all night. The standard of play in pubs is...interesting!

Anyhoo, so even though I know some people play this kind of money in just one hand, I can now appreciate how it feels to be in a slump.
Lookin forward to playing some live poker in the next few weeks, slumps don't last forever

How long in terms of hours played or hands played was this slump?

    Hey Divers,

good to hear from you. I see you're a member of Fistful Of Shamrock! Why don't you come out to the Anglers Rest for the Big Game and we'll have a few pints?

As of this weekend I have just finished a six week slump that knocked me for six. I'm going to write about it in my blog probably tomorrow but let's just say that after 3 years of playing I have never known such a run. And it nearly finished me off with this game.

The only thing I think that I have learned from it is not to chase losses and to stay within my limits. Very difficult when you are hit with a dozen bad beats folllowed by a dozen more.

Also, I am vary wary of calling online poker 'Poker'. There is just so little information. The hyper agression and inability of players to fold hands are two weaknesses that I appreciate in my live competitors but I just can't seem to defeat them online.

Anyway I hope to start that scuba course with you soon. I've only just gotten back my losses for the last month and the car insurance is up! but soon Divers! soon!

    Des.

hmmm...hours played, probably not really a whole lot, and since you ask and i think about what it probably is you'll more than likely slap me for thinking it's even a slump :o I dunno how to find out hand stats om prima poker, any info is welcome on that point.

Think long term! If you're in a slump for a couple of weeks then there may be a problem. I've had plenty of 6 hour poker sessions where I've been down $20 and mightily pissed off. Those half hour periods where I'm up a few buy-ins make up for it.
