Shortstacked, in the BB and on the bubble

Hand from the scalps game on friday night. I've just taken a big hit in the last hand to leave myself with about 17k in chips. Blinds are 2k-4k and I'm in the BB.

CO raises to 12k. CO is fairly tight, but will push too hard on some hands and overplay one or two, but is a decent enough player. He has me covered by about 20k

Folded to me. I presume the cards I have are irrelevant here as any two are resulting in all my chips going in the middle. Is this thought correct?
I had Q9o and pushed all in. I was against AJ. Flop JTrag but I hit running 9s to double up and make it to the final table before exiting in 9th.:( .

Anyway the reason I asked this question was due to the number of players who thought it was a 'gutsy' play when I thought it was fairly obvious.

Looks obvious to me. I'd probably look at my cards before I made my move but I'm not sure why. The chips are going in anyway.

Yeah I thought so. A few of the guys were impressed with it and suprised because it was the bubble. I was a bit taken aback by the number of players who would have folded there tbh.

I don't think it's obvious at all. When shortstacked I think pushing with any two is fine in late position, but calling for all your chips when you know you are more than likely behind is not a good idea IMO. I'd prefer to fold here and push with any two for the next three hands if it is folded around. You still have enough to make people fold.

Do you have 17k plus the blind or 17k including the blind?

I had a similar hand recently where I now think I was correct to fold. 9 handed, MP (tight/solid/winning) opens for 1200, I have 1700 total, folded to me in the BB which is 400. I have A9s. I think we were in the money at this stage, the details are kind of hazy but probably there were two tables left.

MP has a small opening range here: it dominates my hand probably 80% of the time here, he definitely isn't opening with a weaker ace and isn't necessarily opening with an underpair.

I pushed and lost and thought no more of it until later on I realised I could be fairly sure he wasn't bluffing and I couldn't beat any of his hands. I think I should have folded, not sure about your hand as you are less likely to be dominated and the CO is more likely to be stealing.

    17k total

    Also it was 5 handed.

The problem is I will be in the SB the next hand so if i fold i will have 13k left, 2 of which is the SB. What if its raised to me again? If I again fold and wait to push when its folded around I will have 2.5 BBs so I'm getting called by at least 1 if not 2. I think my chances are better taking this pot 1v1 than waiting for a 'better' spot in what could possibly be a 3-way one in which I'll end up with about the same amount of chips either way if I win.
