    Bruce Campbell Vs. Demons?

Nope, it's not Evil Dead IV or an Evil Dead re-make, or anything Evil Dead, but it's close, and be just about crazy enough to be even better. It's the newest Bruce Campbell film "They Call Me Bruce" which happens to be directed by Bruce also.

Rednecks in a small town in America, not realising the difference between real-life and movies, kidnap actor Bruce Campbell in hopes that he'll save their villiage from demons!

Ok, so the plot is nothing new, it practically follows the same concept as Three Amigos, or the brilliant Galaxy Quest; an actor (or actors) being mistook for the character they play, so don't expect truly anything original here. But this is Bruce "The Chin" Campbell baby! Could you ask for a better case of mistaken identity? I think not...

Anyway, this is a film I shall be gleefully waiting for.

A Galaxy Quest/Evil Dead hybrid sounds like it could be a fantastic movie :P

Speaking of which, saw that other "They call me Bruce" movie awhile ago...what an awful load of rubbish :D

As for this movie, I've seen Bruce in so much trash - and believe me, I have high levels of tolerance for trash - that for me his brilliance in Evil Dead/Maniac Cop etc has been overshadowed immensely.

But hopefully this movie will set things right....

Oh, this should rule! I hope he saves the day by finally playing up to his capabilities as Ash. And not Evil Dead or even Evil Dead II Ash, but the totally manic Evil Dead III Ash. Those one liners! "Its a trick. Get an axe! (two lines I know).

    Check this out for brilliance:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/quotes

I started a thread here a while back on it, because I only happened to stumble across it by chance, hadn't heard a thing about it. I said it in my old post and I'll say it again, it's a good compromise for Evil Dead fans who wanted another sequel.

You know, with kick ass films like this and Snakes On A Plane coming up soon, we should really get some Film forum events going, where we meet-up, watch the film and then go somewhere afterwards to discuss and have fun, even just for a short while. Even boardsies who don't visit the forum much/at all could come along. It'd be like a mini beers and would be reserved only for those certain, special films, such as this one, SoaP, etc. I mean, the Paranormal forum have organised outtings to haunted sites, while we have a 17 screener right in the middle of town and don't do anything. Who's with me!

Is that meant to be "Ash: Clatto Verata Nicto. "?

I'm pretty sure in AoD Ash said (or 'didn't say if you want to be precise) the expected 'Klaatu, Barada, Nikto. ' (as in The Day the Earth Stood Still.)

That sounds like a laugh alright.

    Who's with me!

I definetly love the idea, but me being in Galway, I don't know how often I could afford a trip to Dublin just to see a film and have some drinks.

Hugh Hefner: You stole my idea! Thief! I suggested a boardsie get-together for Snakes On A Plane. Would be a laugh, I think :)

    On-topic.... <3 Bruce

"Oh that's just what we call pillow talk, baby, that's all."

More from Ash, even a mistakinly identified Ash, has gotta be a good thing :) Looking forward to this, and Bubba Ho-Tep kicked ass.

Meet-up/film thing sounds like a good idea to me too.

Aye, I knew someone did. But you didn't have the forward thinking to make this into a running series of events, woman (I think you're a woman). You should get your credit though. Tell ya what, you can organise it, and I'll direct your organisation. You gotta share the work, it's all about sharing the work.

Awww sweet! This was written by the The Mask guy! I loved The Mask!

I noticed that Ted Raimi (Joxer) is also credited (without a character name). I really like Ted Raimi. I think he'd be good as Campbell's loser, real-life sidekick.

Does anyone know how much involvement Sam Raimi has had at all?

Not too bad at all. There are several people from boards who'd be interested in this....

Aw man, I'm an idea person, not a worker bee ;)

More events like it is a good idea. We had a little beer after the Serenity preview screening, that screening rocked, a whole cinema full of nerds.

Haha, yeah, Ted Raimi would be a great addition! Remember him and Bruce in "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" TV series? :p It was, well, dare I say it...legend!

This must be the first time I've been made to feel 'different' for not being a nerd :p The film screening meet-up does sound like a cool idea though. Definitely more appealing to me than just a plain old 'beers'.

Didn't Ted Raimi feature in Xena Warrior Princess as well? He probably played the same character I'd imagine seeing as those shows overlapped with tons of characters....an idiot called Joxer/Jocker/similar or something?

Yeah the very same character, in fact, I think he probably turned up in the Xena one more often...not that I, like...watched it or anything! ;)
The best were the episodes that featured the writers of the show, being played by Campbell, Raimi, et al!

It started filming last week. Looks pretty cool.

But the bigger news is Bubba Nosferatu. Paul Giamatti has signed on as Colonel Parker, and Cascaralli is currently in pre-production.

hmm.. not sure if they could squeeze anotherone out of that, tbh. First one was great though, so here's hoping.

I always thought that the concept was ingenious and could easily lend its self to a series of films. I'm hoping for at least two sequels as good as the original.

I was really disappointed with Bubba Ho-Tep, so I won't hold my breath about the sequel.
    They Call Me Bruce ftw!

Bubba Ho Tep was absolute crap and believe me I've a high tolerance for crap combined with a love for Bruce...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

Nah, it wasn't crap. It was brilliantly surreal.

    Such a silly concept.

See, that's terrific on paper. But poorly executed imho.
