    Hey!
I posted something similar before but still haven't sorted it out yet.
Lets say you have a small Lan running, Wired/WiFi at home and you have an ok satellite connection 1600Kb/s via a DVB card, and all the other pcz and even psps can download a 751Mb game demo for example from the same site in about 20ish minutes, but when it comes to doing the same thing from the same site with the server pc that has much higher specs than the others it starts at a healty 2megs and very quickly goes down to between 20 and 30Kb/s, where as with the other systems and in particular the wified pcz the speed will start at 1Kbs and very quickly goes up to about 700Kb/s and holds that speed untill finished. This is happening when the main computer with the internet connection no matter if the Lan is up or down.
Where am i going wrong? what gives? i mean its embarrassing that every time i want to download a file of any size i have to reach for a psp to do so which is not much good for windows updates or antivirus updates game updates and so on.
Some pointers please, cos i'm stumped

Is the server the only device out of all of them hard wired to the router/internet gateway?
Or is the server being used as the internet gateway connected in turn to whatever kind of modem satellite broadband uses ?
You haven't really given enough detail about your set up...

The server/host pc that has the satellite connection via a pci Dvb card is sharing its internet connection through the satellite software that came with the package, it also comes with proxy software set at 127.0.0.1 Port 8080 on the host pc. The host pc is then connected to a switch(No Routher) into which theres a wifi access point and two different wired lans connected, all pcz on these networks have very good browese/download speeds. The host pc houses two nics, 1 wifi & 1 10/100 nic, its the 10/100 nic that all the pc connect through @ 192.168.0.2. Internet connection sharing is Not enabled in Windows on any of the lan cards, its done through the satellite software and goes through the wired nic@192.168.0.2 in the host, theres no real need for the wifi card, but it is addressed on the 192.168.0.0 network and is just used to monitor signal and link quality. I have tried many types of setup, but the end result is still the same, the host pc has little better than dial up speeds while all other pcz have very good speeds, as said in op it dosen't matter if the lan is running or if the host is working as a stand alone with noting connected to it. Its a clean install of winxp pro so theres very little running in the backround and i can't for the life of me think or at this stage guess why this is?
