I'm aiming to be moving over in Sept/Oct time, what are the chances of finding a house to rent where they allow pets (1 cat). Is it going to be a complete no no?

Shouldn't be too much of a problem - just ask the landlord.
Or put "cat-owner" in your wanted ad in the Advertiser.

Of course if you are staying with other that don't like/allergy/etc cats there may be an issue.
