I passed by ticketmaster in Stephens Green this morning and there were only about 20 people in the queue - all seems a bit wierd

Its part of a euro tour so he mightnt have time to do another show. WTF is he doing going to the point anyway, he could sell it out every night for a month! I got as far as entering the credit card details and billing address then told there was a problem with the account:mad:

I got 2 this year, was less fortunate last year

Selling out the point in less than 5 min is a bit odd, I've never known anyone to do it as quick - reckon a lot of tickets are being allocated to corporates..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 449 ✭✭spanner_head

Really doubt he'll play a 2nd gig. He didn't play a 2nd gig last time.
My own fault for being lazy and opting for online rather than q-ing.

Online is only way to go, ticketmaster works off same central server, so you've a much better chance online than in a queue.

If this was the case it would be totally pointless to queue for concerts like this. The first person would be served and then they would be sold out.
I thought each outlet was issued a certain amount of tickets. I know they were at one stage anyway.

There are some outlets that get a certain allocation, Sound Cellar is one that comes to mind. But the ones that are linked by computer you haven't a snowballs change in hell as they work off the same allocation as the web site.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 449 ✭✭spanner_head

most of the time when I have q-ed the tickets have been pre-printed at the ticketmaster outlet to speed up the process.

I remember reading a while ago that there was a certain allocation for online, shops and telephone.

The boss could easily sell out 5 nights in a row to meet the demand.

Had a quick look on flea-bay. Gangsters!

how do these assholes have "tickets in hand" already when they haven't even been sent out yet?

Well either they are lying or they know important people in ticketbastard who got them the tickets early.

Hmph... seems to me the tickets have been purchased before today and sellers have been told not to sell until 9.01am - how can this be legal?

Surely all it takes is to tell a cop (or suitable legal type person) to look atthis page and find out all they can about the person selling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

Missed out on this, just like last year. I hope the touts die screaming..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,267 ✭✭✭kc66

At least they didn't sell 6 or 8 per person like Iv seen before.

    Agreed
Thank God they are starting to think in the box.

The reason why the touts have them for sale is because the auction doesn't end for a while and they probably have loads of people buying them on either i/net or in person. Even if they don't get any themselves, they could pick them up for less then what people are paying on the site for them I'm sure.

I would never queue. I think phoning is the best chance.

soundcellar had them before they are on sale so I sure touts can get them too. They could be "legal touts" like wonderlandpromotions.co.uk

radiohead tickets went back on sale so keep checking for the bruce ones.

Is he even playing his own stuff on this tour its all Pete Seeger songs or something isn't it? Not really interested in going to that, sorry I missed him at the RDS there a few years back with the E Street band though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

I got my tickets this morning but last time he played the Point I was shut out trying to get them online. It definitely helped to have an account with Ticketbastard. A few clicks and the order was complete, took all of a few seconds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 311 ✭✭tracert

I queued from 6.30 and got a pair.

I still don't understand the seating, though? I've got a couple of standing, but ticketmaster has the prices as:

    LEVEL 2 - BALCONY €75.00 - €85.00
    LEVEL 1 - GROUND FLOOR - €75.00 - €85.00

Same as the Dylan concert in November with tiered(sp?) seating downstairs, too?

The touts got them before ticketmaster even put them on sale this morning. This 2 person limit did nothing except prevent groups of more than 2 genuine fans sitting together.
The limit should have been at least 4, I managed to get through to the buy page but was only able to get half of our group tickets. Obviously by the time I got back out they were gone...

    Sweet i got my 2

    Firstly, I got my 2... :D

Read a few interesting comments, there.... I got mine easily, cos I work in a music shop with a ticketmaster terminal... I just printed my own while people were paying for theirs.... cheeky or what....?!?

Shops (the one Im in, at least) dont get an allocation and we are unable to access ANY tickets until the actual on sale time. In theory, one shop could sell all 10,000 tickets.... but it of course doesnt work like that. Im led to believe that its as though there is a 'pool' of tickets and everyone (outlets, web, phonelines.. the lot) all take from this pool. That is how/why events sell out so quickly.

Also, The Boss is NOTORIOUS for only playing one night. Yes, he could probably sell out a month or two's worth of shows in Croker, but he usually sticks to the 'one night only' thing....

Plus, The Stones sold out the Point in 2 1/2 minutes in 2003. The only other thing to sell out as quick was.... ahem..... a WWE event there last year....

As for queueing at a shop ... Ticketmaster in Jervis center was a complete joke. Saw about 6 groups of people coming away with tickets when the queue finally started moving at about 9.10. The next thing the security guard was telling us they were all sold out.

It's just not fair to the fans - lots of people will end paying over the odds for a scalper ticket. Can't see why he only plays one night here - they must know what the album sales are like in Ireland.

    Hhmpphh.

Well. happy trails to you trur bruce fans who got tickets, enjoy.

No such luck here, dammit. Same story as many, online at nine, etc. Waited for 10 mins then had to go to work with a puss on me. Might suss out Europe, could be diff experience.

Work colleague said I might be only a cancelled babysitter away from going if I put word out.

    PLEEEEEZZZZZ

Hmmm it's the way it goes, they just know people on the inside, and they do deals, but they cut down on them in London

when people ordered with credit cards, there did a certain scheme so they would have to proove they wanted them or they had to proove who they were, either way 100's of tickets got declined from possible '' touts '' well it worked in London,

but i didn't realise there were so many Bruce fans on boards, if i hear of any going on sale i'll get back here, for cost price obviously, wouldn't rob a Brucie fan :)...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

Yeah, there's always people with tickets who have to cancel at the last minute due to an emergency or something like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 261 ✭✭redtom

ok, well bags I the first ticket that becomes available via this board then!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 740 ✭✭✭Cremated

Well they might add in another few hundred tickets closer to the date, they did with some gigs there?...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 706 ✭✭✭whatsupdoc?

But would you wait that long on the off chance of getting one?

Try www.bosstime.net it's full of the nicest Bruce fans out there, and there is a chance someone up there could get one going free,

also pop in and say hey :)

    it's a top Bruce forum...

As indicated above, there's NO chance of a second gig, however he's likely to be back next year.....maybe even with the E-Street band if rumours are true.

This is basically a promotional Euro tour, like he did with the Rising, before doing a more extensive US tour, then he comes back to Europe for more dates. Dublin wasn't included in the initial Rising Euro tour, but he came to the RDS for the 2nd Euro leg.

As with everything Bruce, expect changes.....

Anyway, I'm not sure non-Bruce die-hards will like the new album

Well there is rumour Clarence has had to take it easy for health reasons, but hope it's not true :(
would love to see the E-Street-Band, love to see Miami Steve and Clarence and Nils, would be so good!!!

hope they do, and it's in RDS outdoor Arena,

anyone know how long it took to sell out the RDS last time he was here for the Rising tour?, i heard it was the fastest in Europe, well he presently has the Fastest in Ireland, and certanly in most of Europe and the U.S

sold out some 40k stadiums in U.S in less than 30 seconds......
