    Usually the magnetic bikes will give you more resistance and are the ones usually found in commercial gyms. They also tend to be a bit smoother to pedal on since the resistance is controlled by a magnet.
    Belt driven bikes are a good bit cheaper. You have to set the resistance manually using a dial or knob. When you turn the dial for more resistence a caliper tightens up on the belt and gives more resistence so the belt can be prone to wear and can give trouble after a while.
    Arnotts in Henery street have a nice selection and the staff are quite knowledgeble about this kind of stuff
