Went into some toy store yesterday evening to buy some Yu-Gi-Oh cards, a little kid in front of me, he was like 6 or 7, asked "how much for one pack" "€3" the store clerk replied, so took out his little purse and counted it out in small change.

I was up next, "Yu-Gi-Oh cards, eh one of each" hands over 6 packs, the little kid looks up at me with puppy dog eyes and I gave a sarcastic HAhaha!... he cried, good times! :D

More to that point, you should've said you were buying something like Guns, or Motor Oil, or Football Boots.. not yu-gi-oh cards :(

Sorry, I'm a tolerant guy but:
    • Buying 6 packs of Yu-Gi-Oh cards when you're over the age of twelve and
    • Feeling pleased about making a 6-year old cry and then
    • Gloating about it on the internet using
    • The "word" "pwned"

is way too nerdy for my liking. Sorry, using the word "nerdy" would be an injustice to nerds. In fact, it's just all...urgh, wrong.

I'm off down to the local national school to beat those five year olds' asses at football. Who's with me? They lose faster when you kick them in the head.

they're from a manga type cartoon...

how come I know that? :(

how about this as an adult friendlier alternative - slightly. I was in the games shop in Dun Laoighre (whatever) just passing time really. I saw two 14/15 year olds looking at the games and deciding which one they'd get for Christmas. I looked at them and said "lads, I can buy whatever I want...."

Yes I know how sad and potentially creepy that makes me, but, small victories......

on the flip side, I was in Derry once, and I was looking at a really nice car - a corvette I think. The owner came out, middle aged guy, and saw me looking. He said "I bet you'd love a car like this, wouldn't you". I said "not if I had to be bald and fifty to get it" ZING!

    Ha ha!!

There some sort of playing cards or something I think. How can you live with yourself knowing that the poor kid was probably looking forward to those cards all day with €3 in 2c coins. You sound like that fat nerdy guy out of the simpsons.

I'm expecting a follow up reply along the lines of; "I decided to share my cards with this young chap, who then skipped away whistling a happy tune", otherwise 'tis a bit sad :(

He was crying at you, not because of you

(i.e. he probably realises that yu-gi-oh cards are for kids his age, and so felt sorrow for you)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭Dathai

    Good work there azezil.
You have to put kids like that in there place, or else they just walk all over you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

Bit of a backlash there. Who would have thought that people who spend so much time posting on an internet forum would be so critical of someone who engages in immature pursuits....

Anyway, Azezil, you should be more tolerant and kind to your social peers.

I just find it funny that you call someone else a "kid" when your buying those cards to being with.

Plus you used the "pwned" thing. That's right up there with "owned" as being something that pretty sad people claim on the net because they really aren't very happy with themselves in real life.

This person cuts through the fluff to the very heart of what is wrong with the Internet.

Thank God somebody finally said that about that silly phrase!

I don't actually believe this happened. More likely what happened was Aziel was buying his yugioh cards, had to wait in line for a kid that was being served ahead of him, and while waiting daydreamed the scenario. Which probably made him smirk. Then he bought his little cards and left.

But, why would anyone want to prove their superiority over a child like that? or a pair of teenage kids?

I cant reply for Aziel, but I did it cause it made me feel like a big man.

oh, by the way - does that prove my superiority? cause I thought it was just a bit of craic. Oh well, live and learn.

    Is kinda funny.

I have felt this before when I go into Game or the like and there all the wee kids trying to decide what 20 euro crap game there going to buy and I walk up with 3/4 or the best games out and buy an extra 3 controllers and a multi-tap but I wouldn't rub it in.

In your case if the small child had started crying for the sake of 3 bleeding euro I would have bought/given him one of mine tbh.

All in all I suppose it's a trade off fair seen as he can play the game openly in public with out the ridicule of his repecting peers.

Good game though I played it a fair bit on my GBA when I was backpacking.

Yes, proved it to yourself by making you feel like a big man. But why the need to prove it? Is there a doubt that you're not better than a pair of teenagers? Some kind of inferiority complex?

Pwnd is a great word, coined(by accident)by an old warcraft map making buddy. Good times.

The only downside is you bought yugioh cards.
Wouldve been much more pleasant if he say, had to buy bread for his starving family, and you took the last loaf.

Are you implying that a personal friend of yours was the originator of the term "pwned"?!

Agreed. I mean seriously, what the hell? No offence intended here but you thought this was postworthy? Id be embarassed to post something like this. The recycle bin would be too good for thread this bad, it should be erased from the master internet server so all memory of it washed away forever...i feel dirty having even opened it.

It was either a warcraft II or a warcraft III:Reign of Chaos map he was making for blizzard and he wrote pwnd instead of ownd, as a typo.

They are just sitting in a box since we got them. :)
