Animal Collective dont surprise too much as they are heading to Roskilde a week before.

Theres always a smattering of cool non mainstream acts. Last year it was the magic numbers and go team. My guess is mcd is trying to stick it to the EP a little by grabbing a few more of them this time around.

Though they might shoot themselves in the foot if they start selling out from their target audience of vomitting 16yr olds style of music.

I don't see how this is the case, Animal Collective, though not mainstream, will still appeal to said 16yr olds. Oxygen is seemingly nothing but pure drivel this year, and I'm truly dissapointed tbh.

They will never shoot themselves in the foot though, a lot (I'd be brave enough to say the majority of the younger end of the crowd) of people go solely for 'da blow' and copious amounts of cheap alcohol (Dutchie etc.) regardless of who is playing. For that reason I think it would be fair, and safe for sales, to introduce some actual diversity into the line ups, such as some hard rock/metal acts, maybe some classically trained Russian 5 yr old pianists even.... anything but pop....mainstream or otherwise....

In fairness you are probably right. It would take years before Oxegen could recover from the **** heap its become crowd wise.
