Ok, how are sites like ZabbaSearch legal?

If you haven't heard about it before its a site using 'public records' of pretty much any US citizens, lets you do a background check, search by social security numbers, find addresses, phone numbers, directions to address etc, then you can by all the info for a certain amount.

I found it purely by accident but why aren't sites like this heard about more? And are there sites like this for Ireland or UK (I'm hoping there isn't)

So on topic, thats some scary business... Though I'm down with the criminal records being public, isn't there a whole ordeal in the UK about something similar re: sex offenders working in schools and the schools having know way to know?

Well if they're 'public records' of course the site is legal. The records are public for a reason, so people can access the information.
It would be like clamining an online phone book would be illegal.
