The latest types of malware are so potent that organisations should forget about trying to cleanse infected systems, a top Microsoft security officer has advised. Mike Danseglio, a program manager in Microsoft's security group, said firms should think about establishing a process for backup and recovering rather than relying on anti-virus tools as a way of recovering from malware infection.
    Wonderful

    Lovely, what a cop-out,
I can see this turning into a blame the user for not having a backup.
It misses the fact that the backups may already be infected with malware.
It also misses the fact that the restored version will be just as infectable as the nuked one.
In an ideal world you could have every PC being clonable and have default configs and settings and stuff, the main fly in that ointment is a certain corporations insistance on client based instead of concurrent licensing. This necessitates multiple images to accomodate their marketing philosophy rather than for any technical reason.
