    Hi folks,
It seems quite a few people supplement their diet in some way or another be it through athletic supplements or a simple multi vitamin.

I'm wondering why? What's your reason? I'm not looking to slate, I'm just genuinely curious. So post:

    1) What supplement(s) you take.
    and
    2) What your goal/reason is for taking them.

I'm more interested in the why.

    I'll go first:D

    1) Daily, Glucosamine joint complex, and a multi-vitamin

    2) The Glucosamine is for the joints, particularly my knees which get stiff and sore regularly (there's arthritis in my family:eek: ). I've noticed a big difference since taking it, I've less knee pain especially after training. The multi-vitamin is to take up the slack on the veggies and fruit I should eat more of. I've never used any protein or creatine type supplements.

    Hey dude,

i currently take them to cover what i see as gaps in my nutrition from wholefoods sources. ( this will all be changing soon when i go full Paleo for a while and see what happens!! )

Anyway, each supplement that i might take ( very few in fact ) is taken only because i have seen obvious benefit to taking that supplement. For example, i take Multibionta multivit because i find i am far less prone to falling ill while taking this. This to me is a fact, as whenever i go off it, or even switch to another multi i tend to get a little bit ill now and then.

I take Whey Protein simply to meet the ammount of dietary protein i need on a daily basis. It just is not reasonable to try and eat the ammount of meat that i would currently need to eat! Also, at certain times like directly after a workout etc it is desireable to have a nice fast digesting protein to take!!

I take Creatine also, for the muscle building benefits that it gives. However, i personnally feel that many, many people take far too much of this! After saturation, a mere 5 grams and even then keep this restricted to training days is more than enough.

That's really about it. I occasionally do some product testing for a friend but that is really all i take!!!!

At the moment it's all about adding size for me, but in about 3 months that will be replaced by a full return to the arts and then it will be time to drop some weight!!!! :D

    What....
Glucosamine with Aloe Vera, Chondroitin and Selenium
    Neways Maximol Solutions
    Co Enzyme Q10
    Solgar Whey Protein

    but not every day...

    Why.....
Glucosamine to help maintain joint mobility and flexibility
Maximol vitamins and minerals because it's in liquid form and I think its the best one available
    Co Q10 for improved absorption
Whey Protein for when I'm tired and need a boost for that 4th class in one day.

faster, stronger.....better... we can rebuild her ;)

The supplements i take depend on what im trainging for etc.
I take whey protien atleast 3 times a day regardless of dieting, muscle mass strength building.

Creatine is an excellnt muscle builder and can also be used in the fat burning process.

caffine tabs and asprin when i diet and train so if im carrying any injurys this reduces pain and is also used as a fat burner.

    meal replacement powders
Glutomine befor i work out to manage the muscle loss situation
multi vitamin to keep my bodys defences up..

Now in saying all that you would not need to take half that **** if ur diet was spot on but that takes alot of preperation and dedication

    Hey Maeve,
My wife uses Quest Enzyme Digest which you might want to check out instead of the Co Q10, as I remember her saying it's far better. A bit on the expensive side though.

After training I take a scoop of whey protien, an omega 3 tab, a multi vitamin and a good dollop of deep heat.

I take the supplements because I think they might do some good and the deep heat because I am turning into an old geezer.
