Anybody watch (tacky) Eamon Homles Investigates on Sky One tonight? Santilli admitted that he "hoaxed" the whole Roswell Autopsy film thing.

Pretty pathetic really. Sure enough he conned a lot of people and mad a bucket of cash, but his story was basically "the original autopsy film was in such poor condition, that we had to recreate it ourselves...!" So according to him - yeah, there is an alien autopsy film, but it's in such a state that he couldn't show it. So it was better for his wallet to remake the whole thing and pass it off as the real thing. He even went as far as saying something like 5% of the film was original footage, in a sad attempt to give his hoax an element of truth.

And what do you know, Ant and Dec are playing him and his mates in a new movie that's coming out. A few more quid for the Santilli bank account.

    Tosser!

Didn't that come out decades ago? I could have sworn that the original autopsy video was debunked an age ago.

Ah crap, I wrote a big reply to this, then while researching some things, it logged me out of boards and lost my text....

Anyway, the jist of it was that, while the Santilli documentary may be fake (did he actually publicly admit it was so? I didn't see the documentary), it does not take away from the veracity of the Roswell incident. Skeptics will fervently believe the official story of the government, the Project Mogul story which I would consider disinformation. They also believed the original weather balloon cover story, which was later refuted by the government. Some skeptics seem to blindly believe everything the government says, or at least demonstrate a serious bias to official stories - which is not the nature of a true skeptic imo, and not good logic when it is a fact that governments lie, and that governments have intelligence agencies who spread disinformation and keep secrets.

The evidence from Friedman's book Crash at Corona, Maj. Jesse Marcel, and Lt. Gen. Philip Corso (and his book The Day After Roswell) is more than enough in my mind to suggest it was more than a simple crashed spy balloon (albeit and impressive one). An autopsy video may be too good to be true, and most ufologists were very skeptical about the video from the start anyway.

It's worth considering that this whole project could have been designed to further desensitise the public to the existence of extraterrestrials or ultraterrestrials.

Yep, he admitted it was a hoax, but wouldn't use the work hoax. He said it was a "recreation". Though in the doc they did show pics of the alien model being built, the flat where it was filmed, people who took part in the autopsy etc.

Yeah I tracked down a transcript of his statement on the internet. He has lost all credibility now due to his actions, which is a shame as it's possible that there is or was real footage, but one cannot believe Santilli's claims anymore.

Ah well, the truth is still out there. ;)
