Just get her to listen to a Cradle of Filth album and all will become clear to her.

I agree, she sounds like an absolute tool.

I blame Coronation Street. It's like that time I took to styling my hair and wearing the same glasses as Deirdre Barlow. Strange days for all concerned.

Seriously though, flour on the face and an overt obsession with the not-at-all-one-trick-pony films of Tim Burton.

What tools we sometimes have on boards. Telling the guy to dump his girlfriend is hardly helpful or constructive. So what if she wants to dress like a goth and isn't sure what to go with. I'm sure she has many great qualities and the OP isn't prepared to drop her because she's a 'tool' or a 'sheep' due to the fact she wants to try something different.
Clearly the likes of Annie Lennox and Madonna are both tools and sheep because they have reinvented themselves many times over during the years.

Interesting stuff! Well put. Shes definitly not a tool or a sheep, and I think shed laugh if she saw some of the comments above.

Yeah..people who reinvent themselves in their own styles are sheep. Thats what I meant eo908, well done.

She is reinventing herself, not fashion itself. So what if she isn't developing her own style. Kudos should be given to her for trying something new. Especially something in the Goth style, not everyone has the nerve to give it a go.
An old saying springs to mind, 'If you don't have anything positive to say, then don't say anything at all'.

    It's an incredibly stupid saying.

Anyway, I'm happy that one more girl has decided to wear some nice clothes. :)

    I was saying something positive.
I was helping him by pointing out his girlfriend is a sheep and not just any sheep. The worst kind of sheep. A sheep who tries to be different by copying others.

Ahh whatever. I don't have the energy to argue this right now. We're getting off topic, lets agree to disagree.

    Goths are hot
Wednesday Adams finished up a heroin addicted prostitute though; so don't let your GF use heroin. Even if she is just chippin' keep her away from the needle.

Erm, are you saying that Goths are heroin addicts?
He said she wanted to dress in the gothic style...not become Wednesday Adams...

Brilliant! What's makeup? Dark oiled hair? Black clothes? Today I can be Gothe, tomorrow dress up like Keira in Pride and Prejudice. Transformation is fun. Acting is fun. Didn't some Lit Lad say once, "The whole world's a stage..."? Don't be normal, conventional, boring, especially when young. Wouldn't you lads like to have someone daring, provocative, exciting, or the same, day-to-day hum-drum self? If she wants to be Gothe, encourage her, don't put her down. Maybe she's a panther just waiting to spring out?
