A friend is giving me a Sky box, he cancelled his subscription and does not want it anymore.

I currently have a Strong 6355 hooked up to a Motek Motor and an 80cm dish. I know I will have to change the LNB, but is that it? Is there anything I need to look out for?

Twin lnb with separate coax will work although you could try using the output of the strong which I think will pass control once its switched off.

Problem is the Sky box will interfere with the Strong, as it does not have a real standby unless the Strong has a switched loop through (Never seen switched, usually the IF is still active with main receiver on).

So a Twin LNB is best. Note the Sky box will "hang" and need repowered at mains when it sees certain satellites or transponders. This is why I have two dishes, one for motorised and a fixed one with 2 x digiboxes and PC sat card.

I see , guess thats not the way to go then. Can you put up a minidish? This woould allow you to use the digibox whilst watching hotbird or adtra 1 for example.

I suppose I could put up a minidish purely for Sky, I am getting all the kit off this guy, I just wanted it for the bedroom.

I think I will try with the twin LNB first though, see how much of a problem it is and so on.

    thanks guys.
