Having a very annoying problem with my monitor

I have an acer 19" Flat screen monitor.

When its running away the screne looks like a oasis or something, its always kinda moving side to side like little lines flashing horizontolly through the screen, pissing me off any help?

You'll need to explain your prob a bit better than that.

Is it an LCD or CRT screen?

I had an Iiyama CRT with a similar problem a while ago. Had to send it back for replacement eventually.

Have you tried tall the obvious stuff? Different PC/cable, moving all strong magnetic fields away (speakers, other screens) ?

everyone who isnt a thick knows about oasis' the way they kinda glimmer and move side to side, reflections.

like if you look at a road on a very hot day looks like its sizzling, its too hard to explain, but its like that on my monitor.

Horizontol lines move from the bottom to the top of my screen like, making the screen text and images kinda flicker and wave.

an oasis is actually a waterhole or area of dense lush vegetation in the desert

now if your screen looks like an oasis and you don't like it, i suggst you change your background picture

switch, from dvi to vga connection,or dvi to vga, or try menu, revert to default settings, first,go to menu, press degauss ,ok, gets rid of excess charge from crt tube.

Try lowering the resolution on your monitor and the colours and see if theres any change.

Have you had your eyesight checked lately?
Do you have any RF equipment nearby?
Do you live in a desert? Or is your room particularly hot?

edit: Let us know whether the issue is resolved after the format...

I believe heat haze is the term you're looking for.

You're thinking of a mirage, though in many movies it takes the appearance of a shimmering oasis to thirsty characters lost in the desert.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirage
In deserts, mirages may give the appearance of a lake or other large body of water in the distance; this is actually an image of the sky being refracted back up from the warm air lying over the sand. On tarmac roads, mirages give the impression that distant objects are being reflected by a puddle of water on the road.

Is this thread about geography and physics or is it about a problem with this poor chaps monitor. The problem you are having is most likely to do with your refresh rate. Try putting it up and down within the limits of your monitor, if it is LCD and has DVI capabilities and you have a DVI capable gfx card then make sure its connected to the DVI cable. A refresh rate of 60Hz should be all thats needed for an LCD

most crts are 50/60 mhz refresh rate, so people are using grahics cards set at 70mhz or higher, download winxp, driver for your monitor,if its not showing model no in display propertys, eg model no apc model no.510

Look below. The OP is referring to a flatscreen, i.e Not a CRT. Maybe the heat is causing you to see a mirage of a CRT :p
