What type of breed is my dog?

Well I know my dog is a Boxer Labrador cross, but ive been told by two people who stopped and asked about him what breed he is, when I said he was a cross they said, oh because they had a friend with a dog that looked alot alike and it was a pure breed. Anyone any ideas? Heres some pics, sorry but the web cam is poor and so pics are tiny.

Reason I want to know is because in future if I get another, will be easier than looking for another cross breed.

Hmm - unless they're mistaking him for a beagle? His white markings are the same, though he's bigger by the looks of it and he has no black saddle...

http://www.akc.org/breeds/beagle/index.cfm - if you google beagle on image search, there are one or two head-only shots that bear more of a resemblance.

Edit: English Foxhound is even more similar - they're bigger than beagles, so more of a size with your dog, but still have the black saddle that your dog doesn't.

If he's a cross between a Great Dane and a Boxer you could call him a Great Boxer.:D

I can definitely see the Boxer in him, and Labrador crossing would be a viable option. He does look a bit Daney in the face, but sadly enough, I've never met a Dane cross that got the Dane head. I'd say the mix of droopy Boxer lips and long Labrador muzzle gave him a very houndish head.

He could be exactly what you say, or he might have some hound (Pointer or Foxhound) in him. If he's big enough, he could be a Dane mix as well. Mutts are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. And even when you get it, you still may not be sure. ;)

Have to agree. Firstly, it doesn´t look pure breed and by searching the whole Handbook of Dog Breeds the pic that comes closest is the one of the Great Dane, classed as a "working dog", Place of origin: Germany, original use: War dog, large mammal hunting, modern use: Guardian, companion weight between 46 - 54kg. Around for a while: In the 19th century Britain, Great Danes could be found escorting the carriages of the wealthy ...
