Online forum advertising

    Im thinking of setting up a online forum where businesses can advertise their companies. Would anyone use this do you think. I plan to have this service free of charge with maybe just a small donation page where people can help me to keep the site running.

    Any ideas on this would help.

    Wouldn't really see a need fot this as golden pages has this pretty much covered. I know you say you'll give free listings but where will your advertising budget come from if that is the case?

    Personally - if I am looking for a company, I'll just go to the Golden Pages website..

    If it is a forum of just ads then that would turn off customers from visiting. No customers then businesses are not interested in advertising.
    If you do attract the customers you need some way to focus the relevant ads to the customers interested. Not sure how you would do that.

    If someone is looking for a business online first port of call is Google and Golden pages. What would you offer over those?

    Boards has a Services forum where you can advertise your Plumbing business.

    If you mean a forum where companies can talk business among themselves there are a few Irish ones already, including boards.


    Room for competition sure but what's your unique selling point?
