Has anyone seen R-Point? I've heard a bit about it, but it strikes me as far too similar to that dreadfull film Deathwatch.

So, is it actually any good? Worth buying, or just a rent?

I thought it was very enjoyable. I wouldn't go out and buy it straight away though, because most of the reviews I've seen have called it average. But I felt it was worth buying. Not quite as atmospheric as the likes of Ring or Tale of Two Sisters, but good nonetheless.
I started a thread on the horror board a few months back, I think a few people agreed with me.
edit: Actually they didn't, nobody had seen it in fact! :)

Ah right, missed that thread. I generally just don't look at threads if it's about a film I've not seen.

I have it. Not bad. A bit predictable, but enjoyable. Also the first horror film I can think of that's used Vietnam as its setting (as in the war)

I saw it. I wouldn't recommend it. Fairly boring. Considering that you kind of have to go out of your way to see it, its not worth it.

Didn't one of the House movies have a vietnam theme?

R-Point is in my local Xtravision, I've been meaning to give it a rent.

Ditto. I'd recommend renting or borrowing rather than buying. It's not bad, but not one to add to a collection really.

I saw it months ago - wrote a review in the film review forum there....somewhere...didn't get any attention though!

Thought it was superb - the basic premise is similar to deathwatch but to be honest, it's without question a far superior film.

    Definately worth a watch.

Rented this out of the local Xtravision recently... I thought it was pretty good, it wasn't ground breaking or anything but I found it enjoyable, reasonably atmospheric. I wouldn't go and buy it but I definitely say it's worth a rent anyway, even if only because you're obviously curious about it and why spend your time wondering?

Haven't seen Deathwatch, I gather I stop wondering about that?

Alrighty then, thanks for the opinions, I'll give it a look at some stage.

This movie is on my list to rent. One of the guys at work said it was pretty cool and his taste in movies is fairly good.
i wouldnt say its that hard to get hold of either, Xtra Vision have a good selection (for them anyway) of foreign/idependent movies in at the moment.
I rented Innocence (French movie - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375233/) tonight.Looks really interesting.
Anyone seen Primer? What did ye think?

Just to throw my own opinion into the hat here: I thought R-Point was a very disappointing mishmash of countless other, better films. It never once actually gave me chills and failed to engage me on any level. A real shame.

I also wrote about this on my blog.
