I have to do my interview thing!

In my school you just have to say you're interested and put your name down, and unless you've got a bad record they let you in... Though the people with the bad records tend to not seem to want to do it anyway, so it works out fine.

Also, there is a forum for Transition Year here.

I got in mainly because of my school work. I'm not very well behaved half the time so it's a bit of a relief

This is weird. In my school you have to do Transition Year and it's got nothing to do with interviews, our work, etc. Everyone gets in and there's no option of skipping straight to 5th year, unless you move school.

^ I don't think making people do it is a good idea, because there's always going to be lazy people who'll just waste the year like.

Anyway, I'm in. They were going to interviews but now I don't think they're going to bother. The limit was 24, 35 said they were going to apply, but then only 28 applied and I think one or two people changed their minds, so they just decided to let everyone in. We're a 'nice' year anyway, so they're a little more enthusiastic to keep us on for longer.

Its weird-my school doesnt even give us the option of 4th year! We just go straight from 3rd to 5th. I don't know if I would want to do it even if I had the option though.

I'd do it whether I had the option or not. It's good to get work experience and we go to Paris in March. :)

In my school we have to do it too. I dunno if I wanna do it though, tbh.

It's compulsory in my school. I want to do it so it's pretty much grand for me. If I didn't want to do it I'd have to move though.

We don't go on overnight trips in our school anymore - too much drinking was going on. But there are rumours that they might be reintroducing them next year, which will be great.

We get to go to Munich and Nurumberg. We also get to go to one of the concentration camps. Dachau I think it's called.

You don't need to have been made do it to have wasted the year. Speaking from experience x

I'd consider myself in that boat. Would had liked to skip to 5th year but TY was compulsory so I kinda took it very lazy all year lol...

I'm scared of going from a load of study, to even more study. My brain would pop, more than likely. And so enters Ty, a nice easy year to relax my brain.

next year my school will introduce a manditory 4th year. you are required to do it unless it is a special circumstance, doesn't bother me as I was doing transition year anyways

Oh, I don't know - I'm still in 3rd year. I just regret signing up to it cos it seems like a lot of work. And I don't particularly like the skills that I'm doing. It's just that I had to have stuff organised and handed up to the teacher, or else I wouldn't get on the school venture.

I'm surprised at the ampunt of people doing it in my year....there's loads..

What the hell is the President's Award?

I didn't want to do it, but I'm going to France now, so I kind of have to. Not that I'm complaining!! Sooo happy!!!

I want to but my school refuses to do it, even after have the year signed a petition backed by a few teachers. So now I have to go into fifth year aged fourteen.
