Hi there, if you are interested in the Killarney Festival you can read about it here:
    http://www.antesup.com/boards/showthread.php?t=245

In the warm up game Nicky is a big big chip leader on the final table. Game starts tomorrow at 6pm and coverage starts at the first break or when I get knocked out :)

    That'll fix them.

    Are AntesUp a company?

Are you retarded in some way that the internet masks?

Go back to the thread you took that from and READ it, it was referring to announcing Tournaments.

You'd better be taking the mick.

Maybe I was a little bit, but if anyone else had posted this thread it would have been moved to the correct forum.

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 32,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭DeVore

This isnt an announcement of an upcoming tournament. Its a reminder of current reportage.

The reasons we corraled those announcements was that it was becoming an issue with the volume of traffic... now correct me if I'm wrong but unless there has been a recent influx of bloggers here, Mike and I are the only people doing this so its a manageable volume.

So you know what I think? I think "if this was anybody else" not a fncking word would be said and this thread would already be on page two.
Nothing boils my bunny worse then people saying I take advantage of my position here. If I ever choose to "leverage" boards, you'll be eating your Boards.ie Hamburgers sipping a DeV-Coke.

ps: Daithio it was Kings, cracked twice in the first two levels. Ironically you can read about it on our coverage.

I know you will always insist you don't "take advantage of" your position in boards, and that in matters like this it won't be one rule for antes up and one rule for everyone else. But this is clearly a thread that should be in tournaments/events (which is NOT just a forum for announcing upcoming tournaments).

Here's an example of a similar thread where a poster here wanted to discuss a weekly tournament in the SE. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054900323. Musician moved it, correctly in my opinion, to the tournaments/events forum. Can you explain why your thread is any different?

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 32,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭DeVore

Because I believe this is NOT the same as an announcement of an upcoming tournament and that this is of interest to general readers of the forum because of the presence of Boardsie in the tournament, two boardsie's *running* the tournament (Connie and LPlate) and poker.ie have announced such things in the past here similarly. On those points I'll allow the general readership to decide which of us is right and which of us appears to have a bug up his ass.

This was also NOT an announcement of an upcoming tournament, yet it belonged in the tournaments/events forum.

well what ever he is, it doesnt warrant such a constructive reply as the one above.

    Not that simple.....

See Dev has this phone number, when you call it an asterix pbx answers and gives him options on an IVR he presses one of them options the next time you go to www.boards.ie you see this

    Now see that's power :)

Yes, I do apologise for the comment, in my defence I was drunk, angered by the smart arsed comment and had just been knocked out of a 300 euro game by having KK cracked by undercards twice. Thats not an excuse but it is a reason. All the same, I hold myself to higher standards then that and apologise for my bluntness.

Regarding the point at hand, I still feel that its perfectly fine to post this here. The mods may think otherwise or may have acted otherwise with other posts, I don't care. If poker.ie came to me and said "we're covering a event" or "we're running a special feature on our site" can we post a link etc, there wouldnt be an issue.

I felt, and still feel, that RoundTower was simply "fighting the power" and that this if this had been poker.ie or someone else it wouldnt have raised a murmur from him. I think he took a cheap shot and I didn't appreciate it. Thats as may be and frankly I don't care any more. This is a ridiculous derailment of an otherwise innocuous thread. Well done RT... clap clap clap.

I think you're wrong Tom. If anyone else (say Poker.ie) had posted a similar post I among others would have been just as vehement in our calls for it to be moved to the tournament anouncement sub-forum.

Reports of tournaments and calls by players in online tournaments for boardsies to watch them are also moved there.

I think the presence of boardsies in the tournament is a red herring and makes no quantifiable difference to where such posts should be - If I suffer a bad beat against you in a cash game does that mean I have free reign to write a bad beat thread in the main body of threads and not in the bad beat sticky? I guarantee the mods will move it just as I believe they should have moved this thread.

I really believe that Roundtower's comment was a funny and mostly innocuous jab at what he saw as a double standard. I think it was your reaction that really got this thread firedt up. As such it's unfair to put the blame squarely on him. If you had ignored his post then it would ahve been the last post on this and it would ahve dropped to page two like you say.

See you for a pint tomorrow!

Ok Marq, I did apologise for part of my reaction with an explanation of my retort but I don't agree with your assessment of the situation, thats ok... we've been known to hold differing opinions about many things before.
I think the manner in which this was "highlighted" was pretty ugly though. I read it as a direct and snide accusation that I operate one rule for some and another for myself. It was cut out of context and pasted here and I felt/feel it was at best borderline related and a low punch. It didnt contain any smilies to indicate humour or teasing either and frankly just struck me as a side swipe at a time I was pretty low on patience.
Beyond that, this whole storm in a teacup is pretty pathetic excercise in pedantry. I stand by what I have said, if not the manner in which I said it.

This is a bit much. Ask musician or Lafortezza if I have reported other threads to the mods using the "report bad post" button. Probably you can see this yourself even. I've probably reported ten, mostly for being off topic like this one, and some for spam. This was the first one that didn't get moved or deleted. See you tomorrow anyway for drinks.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 9,035 Mod ✭✭✭✭mewso

Well I was away yesterday having my drinks when this was posted. I don't want to cause any trouble but I believe the tournaments forum is for any thread relating to same. Thats why I have moved annoucements, discussions, reports etc. on tournaments. Perhaps we should re-open the debate on this but I'm just stating what my understanding of the policy was. I've been arguing until I'm blue in the face with folks trying to convince them that threads will be seen in the sub forum in the hope they would eventually see the light. By the way Luke under the new charter Dev is only due a warning on this. The banning comes if he persists in breaking the rules :)
