Tried this out with Xcom (dos) last night. Wow! Xcom is a really detailed game. A 183 page manual and you can configure nearly everything with the Xcom ops you control. Amazing old game for it's time!

Btw, I use DFend frontend for DosBox. While Dosbox is easy to use, DFend is handy in that it stores individual configurations for any game you initially setup.

Smooth enough on a lowly P3-800Mhz.

Actually, I have to say Eye of the Beholder played better under DOS (well under dosbox anyway) than it did on the Amiga. I had it on the A500 originally and at times found it laggy when the going got tough. Have to say it's slicky smooth under dosbox. Sound while perfect it isn't a problem as it wasn't anything to shout about originally. Recommended!
