I have 67clubs and limp on button. Flop is AA5r. Utg bets out 12, I make it 35. We had a similar hand earlier where the flop was KKQ and I raised on the flop with KQ and stacked him. The sb who I know nothing about calls. Utg folds. Turn is a 9, we both check. River is an 8. I know have a straight. He bets 48 - any value in a raise? And if I do am I auto folding to a reraise? I have 700 behind and he covers me.

I think I just call. If you call here, would you raise by default at 1 2?

I think at 50 1 Id go all in no matter what the stacks were, at 12 id probably raise against an unknown.

I think the downside of of reopening the betting is greater than the extra $48

I disagree - I dont think you will get bluffed very often, so if he raises, then you can safely throw your hand away.
Plus he can call the minraise with lots of mediocre rubbish.

Considering the betting, the straight is quite an unlikely hand for Hector to have, which means that a player raising him could be doing so with trips (AK,AQ,AJ) just as often as he is raising him with a house - the villian will not be believing that he is bluffing when he makes this raise. I think for this reason it's better to flat call, as if the betting is re-opened and you face a raise it's very hard to know where you are.

Note: I have no experience at this level and am rubbish at hold'em.

Min-raising opens up all the risks for the possibility of a quite meagre reward.

I dont see that possibility at those levels ... and if villain is one of those, then calling the 3-bet seems like a good plan.

Really - minraise is really effective here at getting an extra bet for not much risk. Think about it from his point of view ... it sure looks strong.

If you're going to raise I like fuzzbox's play on this one, he's extremely unlikely to rraise a min raise on the river unless he has the straight well beaten. But I think I'd just flat call.
