As some of ye will probably be aware(thanks to arseblog), its five years to the day that David Rocastle passed away. Rocky was one of my favourite players to have played for Arsenal. He was a very good player: tactically good, and physically very strong, but he gave his all for the Arsenal, and this I think is the most important characteristic he posessed. He gave his all for Arsenal, and together with Mickey Thomas and Paul Davis helped Arsenal in that amazing win at Anfield. I for one would love to see some sort of a monument or a memorial outside Ashburton grove for one of the games true gents.
Rocky you might be gone, but your not forgotten.

    Rocky scores against spurs

His cousin Craig Rocastle is at Shef Wed, on loan at the moment, decent enough player but not anywhere near David's class.....

Rocky was the business, shame his career didn't result in more honours.

    Ah Rocky, what a player.

We sang his song the other night in Highbury. Was a very fitting tribute to the David.

I'd also like to see him in statue form outside the Emirates.

I'm not an Arsenal fan but always admired Rocky, had everything you need from a midfielder.

Rocky will always be missed, especially from us Norwich fans where he spent some time there.

David played 32 games and scored 2 goals for Leeds during the period of August 1992 to December 1993 before we sold him for £2m to Man City. He was a great player and a very popular player with the Leeds fans. He will be sadly missed.

My younger brother still has a signed framed photograph of Rocastle that the player sent him after he wrote him a letter when he was 6.

He was a class player but it was terrible he died so young.
Let's hope the Gunners score some goals in his memory tomorrow :D

Will there be an applause or silence for him. (I used to support Leeds many years ago when Rocky was there I remeber him well I was only about 10 and the name "Rocky Rocastle" sounded great to me) He will be missed.

Thoughts to his kids and wife. just goes to show how fragile life is eh?

Very elegant and skillfuly strong player, 5 years has passed very quickly indeed.
I for one would love to see some sort of a monument or a memorial outside Ashburton grove for one of the games true gents.

I`am not one for erecting statues outside grounds for former players who pass away, its ok for one or two, say best player at the club ever and the founder or greatest manager. Maybe a hall of fame for passed players in the club tour where you could access players careers on computers or something.

All said a good player badly missed from the game.

At the match yesterday, the crowd gave him a 2 minute standing ovation whilst singing Rocky, Rocky Rocastle.
    A fitting tribute.
