URgent Query about a New Ford Fiesta

one of the guys here has bought a new Ford Focus Steel 2006 model. (car is less than 24hrs out of the garage)
Strange question: even after he takes the keys out, the odometer light remains on, it's a nice bright green. seems kinda strange that it remains on even for an hour after the keys are out and the central locking locked.

any one got any ideas on how to get the light to remain off?
he's worried the battery may get flat if it's on all night.

Our does that too I never timed how long it stays on but it definitely stays on for a while after locking the car and goes off eventually.

Even if it were on all night I really doubt it would drain the battery enough to cause a problem unless the battery was already on its last legs.
