There is also the possibility for a DIY solution by hooking up a GSM modem with a sim card to your pc. Buy some software that handles the incoming texts and sends them to email or a database and then use bulk message sending software to send out messages. I've done this myself - it's quite simple.

Yep, there are laws for it and you have to have a way for people to stop receiving messages. So an unsubscribe option has to be available. This can be done manually, but you will need to have a way to capture the incoming message that contains the unsubscribe command.

Basically, every message you send out would have a line that goes "To stop receiving special offers, reply UNSUB" or something like that.

pm me with your email addy and i can help you further

Simplest solution would be to get a new sim card, stick it in any nokia you have lying about and then hook the Nokia up to a PC (viaa data cable or USB Bluetooth dongle on PC) with the Nokia Data suite installed on it.
Save the clients numbers in the phonebook (making sure you have phonebook memory set to SIM rather than phone) and then send a mass text to the clients using "Nokia Text Message Editor".
Add a bit at the end like "if you do not wish to recieve further offers from ABC transport, please reply with UNSUB" and then delete the contact details of anyone who replies to the phone !

I did it this way for a mates college society a few years ago and it worked a treat !

Remember it is now illegal to send unsolicited text messages. The offence can be punishable by fines of upto Eur1500. Youd be best to set up a competition, get customers to enter and enter their Mobile number. state that this may be used for marketing. Use a Vodaphone or O2 sim card and you get free text messages per month. Upolad your numbers and away you go....free!

thats what i was thinking as it seems easier.also its free!!!but the only problem is that only 250 free texts i would be thinking of sending 1000's.
anyway i will find a solution donot worry:confused:

It is illegal to send unsolicited text messages to personal mobile phones.

If you have a customers business mobile phone number, then you are allowed to send them messages, however, if they ask you to stop then you must.

The €1,500 maximum fine per message is a bit of a shambles really. There was a company who made 165,000 unsolicited calls to O2 customers a couple of years ago and hung up after two rings. Some people who say these missed calls, dialled the number. They were then offered a chance to win something by calling a premium rate number.

They made 165,000 calls, but only 5 complaints were received. Therefore they were only prosecuted for 5 calls and were fined €300 per infringemnet, a total fine of €1,500.

I was one of the ppl that complained !! It was a real pi55er to see that only 4 other ppl did the same.

If you get one of these texts you complain to the Data Protection Commissioner and he will kick their a55. If they get more than 3-4 complaints the sender is fooked....eg in the example mentioned above.

Remember you HAVE to get the persons permission before texting.
