Is it a good or a bad thing.

Some of the threads here go way over my head.

Its dodgy sometimes depending on your setup.
Only some manufacturers leave room for a bit of OC'ing - usually a higher spec model,99.999% of the time you overclock it and something goes wrong then its your own fault and not covered under warranty. Before you go pushing your lappie try do a bit of research on how,why and how much on the specific part.

Sometimes you can boost your laptop power masively for no extra cost but you have ta walk the line.

Thats right you have to walk a fine line . if your going to do it start of with very small increases in all areas CPU and GPU and ur MEM and after each increase run some burn in software to see if its worked and more importantly is it stable ,then before you do anything run some benchmarks and see what your system is getting first then after each overclock run it again and see if its doing any good .
i hope this helps BUT REMEMBER make sure you still have some time left on you warrenty
