So reading my newspaper I found a flyer from Sky telling me:

Plus you get these non-suscription channels on digital Satellite:
    CNN - Cummunity Channel - UTV - ITV3

And right next to it in a big red circle:
UTV now available on digital satellite

Now we all know we can get UTV via Extra Channels but does this mean, UTV will finaly come to the EPG and ITV3 will be back on it?

Or is this just a marketing gag telling me I can get, but you need to work to get it and don't even think about recording from it?

They have been saying exactly the same since the ITV regions went FTA. It is not a sign of impending EPG placement. It is just saying it is available on digital satellite (not specfiically Sky), which it is.

So I called the Subscription line and asked:
"Im in Ireland, the flyer says UTV/ITV3 available on digital sat, are these channels on my EPG and can I use SKY+ with it".
Answer: "Yes Sir". So I again
"So you are saying both channels on are on EPG in IRELAND".
Answer: "Yes Sir, would you like to subscribe".
"No thank you, i don't think this info is correct"
Answer: "Are you accusing me of lying to you".
"No, I just think you might be missinformed"
Answer: "I'm not, are you accusing me of lying?"
    So I hung up.

Called customer service and asked and got the answer:
"Sorry Sir, UTV/ITV is not provided by SKY. You will need to do some manual tuning. Please have a look at our webpages".

So over to the webpage which clearly states:
"UTV is available without subscription. It is not provided by SKY; it's availability is outside Sky's controll. Manual tuning of your box is required".

So some clever words "on digital satellite" instead of "on Sky" and the flyer is okay, leaves the missinformed order handler, but hey it's sky.

Marketing. And may not even be an actual Sky HQ flyer but some local jobby.

Sky's official flyers now say it. Previously it was the Electroplus ones only I think, but the last magazine insert direct-from-Sky one I got had "UTV now available on digital satellite"

It also says that on those little booklets you get from Sky sellers.

It should also point out that Sky+ users cannot record UTV either.

And completely off topic (but an interesting question) - will the BBC HD channel appear on the Irish EPG ??????

Only if Sky pays for it. Seriously.

the red text about it, on the TV commercial has been there for a good few weeks now.

why haven't ITV kicked up a fuss about this though.

From all the threads here in Satelite, you guys n gals would seem to suggest, that hell would need to freeze over, lol, B4 ITV would let Sky run there channels.

So what's the real story, I can't imagine ITV don't know about it?

what can ITV complain about? Sky are stating that UTV is available FTA on Digital Satellite. it is the truth. nowhere are Sky saying that they are providing it
