    Hi,

    I'm not a bike snob nor a bike anorak but I am in need of a good solid mountain bike for Dublin city centre commuting. Anyone got one for sale or know of someone with one for sale please contact me. Looking to spend around 200 euro or thereabouts.

    Please give as much detail as possible - make, model pics etc...

    Thanks a mil.

    I like the way you say you want a good solid one and not the cheapest one you can get.
    I would recommend Giant. I know they have a bike called the Rock which is about 300yoyo, but there may be a model below that. Comfortable, fairly upright seating- good for recreational cyclist or short commuting. Good quality gear for the price.

    I'm sure Trek must have some great bikes for relaxed commuting. Aargh, my brain is mush at the moment.

    I have one ill be selling soon.

    to my shame its kinda brand new :o . i bought it new and rode it about 3 or 4 times.

    however there is a small problem with it. one of the pedal arms keeps falling off. when i assembled it i put the arm on wrong and that caused the thread to go.

    i was going to get it fixed before i sold it. the local shop says theyll do it for 30 euro.

    i was going to sell it for 150. so if you want to wait til i get it done thats the price or you can take the bike as is for 100 and get it fixed yrself.

    let me know.

    Can't help there I'm afraid, I'm down in the real capital.;)

    If you got a trek or giant second hand from a shop, or bought elsewhere and got it serviced then you would be flying. These are very good brands, although there are others that are worth considering. Maybe specialized have bikes in this range - specialized hardrock, but I don't know what the cheapest one is. Claud Butler probably do a few good bikes in this range.

    My area of interest is the other side of 1K yoyo, so can't offer much more help other than saying if you spend 250-350 (new) on a bike from one of these brands then you shouldn't have any probs.

    The giant I recommended after tweaking a few bits on one for a friend recently. Obviously, if you can get one second hand in good nick for under you 200yoyo then you're laughing.

    There is an alright bike over in FS general. Nothing special by any means but would do the job if you're on a budget, Would be decent with a pair of slick tyres.
