Does anyone know if you are entitled to a frefund from the tax office if you should become unemloyed?

Or is the dole ones only entitlement?

If from the date of leaving your employment to the end of the calender year you have not been employed and have been on the dole, request a P21 Balancing Statement and if your are due a refund which you probably will be, it will be refunded then.

But you have to wait till the end of the year to do this.

However if you start working again in say three months time, then you will have built up three months tax credits. This is will used to reduce your tax and therefore its refunded through your payslip.
