    Hi

Looking to book a hotel in New York - anyone got tips?

Probably flying into JFK with Aer Lingus and want to stay Manhattan (or close by)

Tried hotels.com and aerlingushotels.com but would rather check direct with hotels based on other useres exp.

    Thanks

    Slumped

Hotel Pennsylvania is a good bet. Quality central location (opposite Penn station, so you can get the train from JFK practically to the front door) and not overly expensive. Pretty much everything in midtown Manhattan is within walking distance (Times Square, Central Park, Macy's, etc...).

I didn't stay there myself (stayed just around the corner in the Manhattan Inn hostel), but a friend of mine gave it glowing reviews.

Probably the most asked question here!

Check out www.tripadvisor.com for lots of travellers' reviews. My advice would be to not waste your money on Fitzpatricks (Grand Central), it is not worth the extra cash.

Stayed a couple of nights in the Pennsylvania. Decent value. Location is great. Make sure you ask for a renovated room when booking (you can do it directly) as I've heard horror stories about the hotel. My own personal experience was fine though

BTW the hotel has about 1,700 rooms and about 11/12 elevators so if you want great customoer service look elsewhere, if you want good value for money hotel in a great location with no hassle, go for it.
