If you're looking for a Hummer Rival, the Toyota Mega Cruiser does the job, longer than a Hummer H1 and almost as wide.

Doesn't quite have the charisma or pace of the Humvee though!

Nothin' beats a H1 except perhaps one of these electric 4x4's

    LM-02.

Think HMMWV with the engine from a Lambourghini Diablo.

Libyan army bought a bunch of them, a few civilian sales. Didn't exactly take off though.

I can't argue with that! I remember Top Gear did a review of an SUV in a desert somewhere, but can't think of the name of the car at all. I think it was around £70K and would leave most cars for dead on or off the road.

Perhaps I should nave phrased it differently, but my point was that the re-designed Land Cruiser is a serious machine for those who actually need a working off-roader.

It's a world away from those revolting pimpmobile Escalades.

Do Toyota not still make it? I'm sure I saw taleban types on the news recently going around in a very fresh one. The original supposedly had a great diesel engine.

No need to worry about ruining a tyre on a pothole, that's for sure. CIE might be missing a few bridges though.
