both myself and a friend in the States have webcams running on our computers but we cant find software which will allow us to see each other :(

The problem is that I am on a Windows XP machine and she is using a brand new Apple Mac.
Any software i find that works for me wont work for her and vice versa.

What i need is a reccomendation on a chat software which will also allow us to see each other, and use microphones too if possible.

    thanks in advance!

    Emmet

Why dont you try msn messanger or yahoo? Msn messanger would probably be better and can be used on both pc and mac

AIM for PC - iChat for Mac. iChat is an OSX version of the AIM client with some nice little doodads thrown in. You should have got it with your machine
    (if it's running osx).

Videoconferencing is tricky but can be done. There's a good page here - linky - with details of ports you need to unblock etc. It's aimed at eircom users but the advice is good for most routers.

iVisit is free .. but it only lets you chat for about 30 mins
