I cracked the nut on my Warwick Corvette six string last week... Anyone know if I could replace it with a standard nut, or would I have to stick to the Warwick adjustable type?

The brass nut with the screws?

You could replace it with anything, really, (my Ibanez 6 has what looks like a praphite nut) but given the importance of the nut especially on a 6 string bass a pro install might be pricey but worth it.

It's got adjustable screws with Allen key slots and everything, but it's very fragile. If I could replace it with a solid nut, I suppose that would make it more hard-wearing. How much do you reckon I would have to pay?

For the nut material, maybe slightly more than a tenner, for labour... your guess is as good as mine. There's be an hour's work tops in doing it, just some straightforward filing and sanding.
