Great band this. Steve Mason from the Beta Band's new(-ish) band. The album No Style, is absolutely tremendous. Well recommended.

    Ticketmaster

And an Irish Tour it seems too!

Should be a great gig, seen the beta band twice before & were feckin great. But the last time in derry there was only about 30 people at the gig, bad show for a farewell tour for such a great band.

Really? F*ck that's bad. Dublin gig was packed out, and I was at the final gig in Edinburgh, was fantastic. I shed a tear!

Just seen the gig is on a Monday night. Terrible night for it, But sure have to support Stevo - I was thinking will they play the electric picnic this year, KBT would go down well there, and it would bring there cause to a bigger audience.

Was at the Bud Rising gig a few years ago in TBMC and they blew me away (pity the venue was a fuppin sweat-box that night!!). And had tickets to the Ambassador show on the farewell tour, but was in the US with work so missed that - gutted so I was!

Tickets arrived there today for this show. Not gonna miss it. And with Architecture in Helsinki the night before, and Broken Social Scene the Thursday after - its gonna be a busy week!!

I near sure kid carpet is supporting KBT. If you havent heard him check him out at http://www.kidcarpet.co.uk/songs.php

Was reading a couple of an interviews with steve & he said the beta band were surving on a grand a month between the 4 of them towards the end. At least they didnt sell out, gap were offering them crazy money. There is something F**ked up if a band like the beta band can't survive in the modern music industry.

Really hope KBT sell records but i'd be skeptical. The album is deadly but, i even think it mite surpass the beta at there height.

I think KBT have a real problem with promotion. When have you ever heard them on Irish radio? Or seen a KBT single in the shops?

Only place Ive ever seen/heard them on in public was when the video for C I AM 15 was playing in Topshop in Jervis St......very surreal.

Actually, Topshop always play really good music, most of it alternative stuff!

Are you sure you were at the final Beta Band gig in Derry?
"Not at all! It was packed to the rafters.easily still one of the most talked about gigs locally."

Seems to contradict your post. Even Steve Mason says it was jammers:

Yep he has quit music, for now at least. No idea what triggered this, couldn't have come at a stranger time, with the album out next month and the tour, he's going to lose a lot of money.

btw Steve often guest hosts the radio station I run, www.oldjockradio.com
Tune in at 9pm tonight, there could well be more info.

Very sad. But it's true, he has quit, for now at least.
What a strange time to quit though, with the album out next month and the tour...he stands to lose a lot of money.

Steve often co-hosts oldjockradio, a station I run with a friend.
If you tune in tonight at 9pm there could be more info on this.

strange one alright, sounds like the thought of touring has been too much for him or maybe some health problems. The album is ready to roll at this stage so they've probably decided to release it anyway. pity.

    Mason has quit KBT????
Feck, I thought his myspace message was just referring to him quitting myspace.
I was looking forward to seeing Les Bell and spacebar at the gig in Whelans !!
