Did I have an experience?

    Hi guys,

I would be interested in your opinions on this. I posted in another thread saying that I was jealous of all of you who have had supernatural experiences because I felt I never did.

However, I was sitting back reading through some of your threads and two instances in my life came back to me.

Both of the instances happened while I was in bed so it could be down to dreams. The first one happened soon after I started reading up on the medium John Edward. He referred to what he calls his "spirit guide" who says he is contact with and this guide enables him to communicate with other spirits so he can relay messages to loved ones.

So I was lying in bed one night, and I was concentrating really hard saying to myself "Who are my Spirit Guides?", "Do I have more than one?", Can you make yourself known to me?" etc. All of a sudden I heard, only for a second or two, the sound of a baby crying. I continued asking these questions and concentrating really hard. Then I got a mental image of a face of an elderly woman.

Now I can't recall if this happened the same night or not but I remember lying in bed and suddenly my body felt as if it was paralysed. My eyes were closes and I was lying on my back. I could make out 2 voices talking. I couldn't make out what was being said as it seemed very distant and also it was like they were speaking too fast to make anything out. While this was going on I felt as if something was moving from my right at head level across to the left. I somehow felt it was connected to what was paralysing me.

Now the reason the above interests me is that mediums mention that spirits speak at a higher frequency than we do and that even they have trouble making out what they are saying. I have heard it mentioned before that spirits speak at a fast rate too. Who knows!

The second instant that occurred was only a couple months ago, if even. I was going through a really tough time; I was feeling very uncertain about lots of things in my life.

I remember lying there in bed feeling very upset and restless. I said out loud "Mom, I need your help". My mom died about 8 years ago. All of a sudden I felt that paralysed feeling again. I was lying on my back and my two hands where either side of my face on the pillow with the palms of my hands facing the ceiling.

I could hear a distant, whispery voice saying something but yet again it seemed to be talking too fast for me to make out. I felt as if it was my mother. I wasn't scared. I recall asking questions and getting responses. I remember saying "I can't make out what your saying" and from that point I was getting what felt like fingers tipping the side of my forehead in answer to my questions. I asked the question, "Am I going to be ok" and I would feel a finger tipping gently twice on the side of my forehead. I felt joyous and happy. It kind of felt like I was giggling the way I used to do when I was a really young kid and my mother would be playing with me.

The next day I felt like a million dollars. I felt happier and with a new sense of hope. While things are 100% with me at the moment I do feel a lot better than what I did before that night.

Now I don't know whether or not this could be classed as spirit communication or not but I would be interested in your feedback!

    Thanks for reading!

It sounds like sleep paraylsis, or lucid dreaming - the old classic. Whether there is anything paranormal about sleep paralysis is open to debate, but most indications seem to be: no.

Also, I'm a little curious as to why you always felt you never had paranormal experiences, and then remembered these ones? Did you not feel they were paranormal at the time? What did you feel they were? Perhaps you forgot them?

when I read your post first I did a fast sweep of it, as you do, and nearing the end where you talk about those feelings like being a young kid again my immediate thoughts were have you lost a parent. Then I re read and realised you lost your mother. I experienced the same feelings when I lost my father and during the times afterward when I dreamed of him or felt him near, it was always that unmistakable feeling of parental love, very complete and fulfilling at times I thought my heart would burst..and yea, so very joyous!

I can associate with the taping on the forehead too, I used to get that all the time and to be honest found it very annoying, always figured it was a nerve or something in my forehead but it was always accompanied by a cool breeze, would keep me awake at night at times.

I wouldn't get too caught up in seeking out spirit guides just yet, but I would most certainly take comfort in knowing that a parents love never dies.

    wishing you all the best

My immediate reaction was "Oh its just sleep paralysis again", but its wierd that both times you essentially initiated it. How often have you tried something like that where you didn't get that wierd reaction?

Well, when I was reading the thread were people were giving their experiences of seeing a ghost or hearing footsteps in empty houses etc. I have never experienced this.

I dismissed the experiences above as dreams before as I do have a general interest in the paranormal so perhaps subconciously I created my own experience or something. I don't know!

Its only been those two occasions that I tried it.

You've only asked your mother for help once?

Zillah, please, lets not go down this road again.

If you have a point to make, post the point, lets not needle it out over several ok?

The reason I asked was because you are the best judge of whether you have had a paranormal experience or not. If it felt like a dream, it probably was a dream. If the dream had paranormal aspects, then likewise you should be the judge of that too. We can't really answer it, tbh, you are the best person to analyse the experience.

My advice: I guess it's a personal experience for you, and down to you to interpret in whatever way you feel most at ease with. It would be nice if it was your mother helping you out, and maybe that's what I would choose to believe. Whether it really happened that way or not, who knows? But we can neither prove or disprove, since we didn't experience it, and science cannot currently explain it any better than the lucid dreaming explanation already mentioned.

    Nice positive experience anyway.

My point is, you've had this wierd sensation twice, once when you were asking about your spirit guide and once when asking for help from your mother. If they were the only two times you did anything like that then I think its very interesting. Im just wondering how often you might do something like ask for help from beyond or pray to whatever.
