TS + mike issues

Okay, [this should probably be in Computer/Technology, but...]

So I was all set with TS for last night's Boards 6 game, then it turns out my TS setup was unfortunately way wonky for the other lads, as it was 'constantly transmitting'. Got it working like a breeze on the desktop quite rapidly and a gg was had by all (especially by NRG 2 ;) ), BUT...

...I'd like to get TS working as I intended it to work, on my Wi-Fi'd tablet PC, so I'm not using CPU/LAN/whatever other resources on my desktop for TS when I've got BF2 running.

Spec is low, veeeeery low: P166 MMX, 96MB RAM, 802.11b, Win98Lite. All of this monstrous computing power happily runs Orion (IRC) and TS with no probs (+ connected and everything no probs).

After turning down the mike gain (software gain in TS), turning down the mike volume (both in TS and Windows) and the overall volume (in Windows), and changing the selection to user-activation instead of voice-activation, the problem was still there.

The only further 'hint' I can provide/think of, is that in the Sound Properties of Windows 98 (when clicking the speaker tray icon), there is a 'select' tick box at the bottom of each slider column (Volume/Line In/Wave/Mic/...). When the box is ticked for the Mic column, I can hear myself (breathing in the mic, ambient sounds, etc...). When it's not, I can't.

What can the problem be? Could it be IRC on at same time? Is my mike socket fried?:confused::confused:

The check option in sound conrtol disbales or enables the mic, voice activation doesnt work very well.

On your main Desktop move the volume slider up a notch set it to middle mouse button and cap the upload to 4kb.

Should work perfectly, or find some gimp to sit while you test it over and over again with diff settings.

    OK, roger that.

So I was told, and so I tried that as manual activation (tap screen). No joy :(

Query about that: you reckon it could be either the codec or the up/down bandwidth rate? (for what it's worth, I had already set TS to 4-up/4-down before the other guys told there was a prob).

Oh and another - can I try TS between my 2 PCs? (it would save me having to bribe a gimp :D ). E.g. if I connect both to TS under two aliases, create a channel and join channel with both PCs, I should be able to commo between them, no? And so be able to listen out 'locally' on desktop speakers what the pb is? Guess I'll give that a try tonight...

    Anyhow, thanks KdjaC :)

Dont cap download @4kb only upload assumiung you have 1mb+ it will be fine.

Most channels use CLEP 5.1 as the codec.

I can check it later for you i be watching Arsenal game but can login to TS while you play BF2 with TS.
