Will we heading away next week and was wondering has anybody used the Quickpark facility at Dublin Airport duing the night (around 2AM). Do the shuttle buses still run every 5 minutes at that time?

What are the shuttles buses like for storing baggage, I'll be going with my wife and 1 year old child and was thinking that it makes more sense to drop them at the Airport, then leave the car in and go back up to the Airport. On our return I was going to go get the car and bring it back up to the short term car park and then collect my wife and baby. Due to the time at night I wanted to be sure it was a quick round trip each time.

    Hi MasterK

I have been told that you must now book in advance to use the quickpark facility ( Taxi driver mate told me this).
    Here is the linky

Log on to this and follow the on-line booking, might save you any hassle on the night.

I don't think you *have* to book it's just better if you do. I was flying to France recently (on a Friday) and presented my (unbooked) self at the QuickPark at 4:50 a.m. only to be told it was full

I don't think the buses go every 5 minutes though, one will wait until another comes back from the airport and then head off, so I suppose you could be waiting 15 mins or so. I'm not sure if it's a good idea either to leave your wife with the baby and the baggage at the airport on her own - your round trip could take half an hour at least and she'll be on her own until you get back - there should be no problem with carrying your baggage on the bus, the driver will wait till your sorted if you have a let etc etc...

    Have a good trip!

    Hi Dr.Spock

I have just had another look at the website, from what I can make out you can book either on line or via your mobile, either way you need a pin number to get access to the quickpark parking lot, This pin is sent to your mobile or on line when you book. The gates will not open without a valid pin number.
Of course you could just ring the number when your outside and get the pin that way, but I am fairly sure you cant just arrive at the gates and drive in anymore.

Maybe it has changed in the last month but I arrived this date last month at 5.30 in the morning without booking and got a space no problem. And there didnt seem to be any shortage of spaces... Had to wait 10 minutes for a bus..

There are 2 buses in operation between 12 midnight and 4am. From 4am to midnight there are 3 buses in operation. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there are 4 buses in operation between 4am and midnight.

As a previous poster said, during off peak hours (12mn to 4am) a wait of at least 15 is possible as one bus does not leave the car park (unless it is full) until the other bus returns from the terminal.

You do not need to have booked in advance but if many people have booked via internet, the attendants will have to reserve spaces for them and therefore will have to turn away ordinary traffic. For example. they had 2,000 reservations via internet for the 23rd December last and were forced to turn away potential customers for days in advance of that date to ensure that they had adequate spaces. Quickpark introduced internet booking to get one up on the DAA but probably regret it now that they are established as they are regularly forced to turn away traffic for days in advance to ensure that they have enough spaces. The 'first come-first serve system is much easier to operate and more lucrative.

There is plenty of space for luggage. People regularly bring skis, canoes, large pet cages, bicycles etc.

If you are going to drive up to the terminal, don't waste money in the short term car park. Tell your wife to go up to the departures road and pick her up there. If you are reasonably quick, the Airport Police won't bother you. I do it all the time.

The internet booking service seems to be out of operation tonight. Do this mean that the "first come - first serve" system is now the way?

I am due to park at 7:00 am Friday - am I likely to get a spot or how do I now pre-book?

The online booking doesn't work any more. Just show up and if there's space, you'll be let in.

FWIW, it's only €1 a day cheaper than the DAA LT now, so it's not really as attractive a proposition as it once was. At least if you go straight to the DAA LT you'll definitely get in!
