Need help - engine glow plug light is flashing on my Bora 1.9TDI this is after I have waited for the light to go out before starting the car
When the engine starts the light starts flashing after about a min
Something to do with the engine management system.

    Any one got any ideas?????????

This is often used as the warning for water in the fuel filter. Most diesel filters have a water trap on the bottom. It's a straight forward job to drain, usually just open a nut and let it drain until you get some diesel out.

I dont know about on VWs, but on Fords a flashing glowplug means a fault code has been stored by the ECU. It could be anything, but it would be wise to find out what.

The flashing glow plug light does indicate an engine management problem - have it checked out before it leaves you stuck somewhere.

My Passat 1.9TDI has had this warning light coming on for over two years now. I discovered that touching the brake pedal makes it go away(!). According to the owner's manual it's an engine management warning but I've had the car checked by VW and an independent VW specialist and their diagnostic equip reports no actual fault with the engine or its management. I've also changed the fuel filter in this time and it has made no difference.
