Engine number removed/chemical etching

    Hi,

I've got a Triumph engine that had the block 'decked' (the block was ground down to max piston height) to improve power. The problem is that the engine number was ground off also when this was done. I'd like to know what the original engine number was so that I know for sure what particular engine I have. I've read on another website that its possible to use some sort of etching chemical to retrieve the engine number as the original punching process will leave traces deeper in the metal. Does anyone know what chemical/process is used and where I could get it?

    Thanks...
