Peavey JSX

You know, even though I've decided that my next amp is definetly going to be an Engl, there's still a few amps that do catch my eye, and the Peavey JSX is one of them.

Just look at it and tell me that's not really eye-catching?

That's one amp I'd really like to have a go on at some stage, as I've heard a lot of good things about it. Probably a bit too much power than I'd need, but it's tempting.

So has anyone here had any experience with this amp?

It got a fantastic guitarist review, and joe has been playing them for a good while now. Supposed to be fantastically versatile, and has a 25 watt mode afaik. (or maybe half power or somthing). Id take it over an engl in a shot, though ive heard of reliablity problems. I thought about getting one for a while.

A 25 Watt mode? Now that would be very handy indeed for practice levels.

I don't know though, I've not played the JSX, and I've played the Engl, and I have to say the Fireball sounds like perfection to my ears. That said, I'm certainly very eager to try out the JSX. Do any instrument shops in Dublin stock them?

No, not as far as i know. Waltons was a peavey dealer at one stage (might still be), but they wouldnt stock anything that good out of stupidity. The place up near portobello bridge may have stocked peavey at one stage too, but again, theres a million to one chance they'd have this in stock.

The low power mode is intended more for a different response rather than practice afaik, anyone whos ever played a 'low power' valve amp will tell you that even 10 or 15 watts is still extremely loud. Though, it WOULD be a good bit quieter, so i guess it might be suitable for practice/rehearsal.

Nice amp all the same. If you have any recent issues of guitarist, see if the review is on the CD (im not sure if they still do this)

Fair enough, I won't chance a trip out anywhere to check it out so. Though if I ever see it anywhere, I'll definetly be sure to try it.

I've heard bad things about it actually. I greatly dislike Satch's new live tone.
