Looks alright only catch is it's a BTX system so changing motherboards down the road if you want to wont be quite so easy as BTX boards are not common and the industry is resisting the motherboard form factor.

Other than that looks decent system for the price with all the extras thrown in but do note they ship WinXP Home on it not WinXP: Media Center Edition 2005, I kinda got the gist they were pushing it as a media center system.

And if you really want one make sure your at the store early (before it opens) ....

if it's anything like LIDL's, popular items sell out in just minutes!

BTX boards are set to replace ATX altogether, even new dell systems are BTX so its a good way to go.However in the repair business I see quite a few older aldi machines that they fly under the medion banner but they seem to be sturdy enough ol work horses. As much chance of them breaking as any other dell machine.....:)

I bought the same machine in December and apart from a small problem with a dead CD-DVD writer which was replaced I am more than happy with it. There's an unofficial support forum here:

Still, as far as I can see, it doesn't come with a monitor so you still have to fork out a few hundred euro more but besides that, it's quite a good spec. Even has a Lightscribe drive!

    They are using 533mhz DDR2, and it supports 800mhz DDR2, bit of a waste:rolleyes:

Looks reasonable other than that, and dual analougue tuners are great, you can watch and record 2 different channels:)

Oh and i doubt it will be as silent as they proclain with a Pentium D in it:o

Not exactly true only those OEM's who curry favour with Intel use BTX the rest of the industry have turned their nose up at it & that includes AMD's motherboard partners. Dell and a few select other system builders do use BTX but only because its the price they pay for Intel discounts.

BTX's future is by no means certain and the Taiwanese motherboard manufacturers have repeatedly signaled that they have little interest in the form factor so third party [non-Intel brand] BTX boards are quite rare and will remain so for some time if BTX fails to get any traction.

BTX was envisioned in part to solve the heat problems of the P4 but with Intel's new Core CPU's running much cooler the need for BTX is greatly diminished.
