ok, nothing came through of the last "project" i was "involved" in so i'll try again.

i'm 19, rhythm guitar with an occasional spattering of lead. very loose style, a little bit of improvising, i never play the same thing the same way twice, maybe change a chord or add a different little fill...i'm not an extraordinaire, i'm not even good, i'm just into 12 bar rhythms and country tunes..i ramble far too much.

into old time blues - elmore james, big joe williams, blind lemon jefferson, John Lee Hooker, blind willie johnson, T-Bone Walker, and a multitude of other delta blues artists.

also into country. even the cheesey kind... carter family, woody guthrie, johnny cash, willie nelson, dolly parton

neil young, REM, Pixies, white stripes (big fan, my playing style is very influenced by jack white too) the beatles, the kinks, the byrds, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, Cream, anything guitary and poppy, franz ferdinand, early foo fighters stuff (first 2 albums), nirvana, charlie daniels band, you get the general idea...

50s rocknroll, elvis, eddie cochran, chuck berry, little richard...

ideally i'd like to meet a drummer of similar age and work from there and take on a bass player after we get some solid tunes down....but i'm willing to work with anybody into the same kind of stuff, nothing too serious, just fun tunes and see where it goes.

what i'd like is something very barebones - one guitarist, a singer (not me!) drummer and bass. maybe a bit of banjo or fiddle in in the future...who knows? something that sounds thin, less is more type of thing. basic style, nothing flashy, just bare bones country/blues/rocknroll
that's the ideal scenario, frankly i'm dying to make some new music and have some fun so i'll work with anyone who has the same mindset as me. (subject to certain terms and conditions, etc)
i'm in drumcondra and can haul a guitar and amp around town.

if you're interested then let me know, i'll pm you my number and we can work out a time for a little jam. i might even buy you a beer.

anyone wanna give it a go?

    peace and love,

    Johnnie.

I'd definatly be interested in that man. Sounds exactly like the kind of thing I'd like, bare bones just raw music comin out of the speakers. I'm currently in the process of converting from guitarist to bassist (because all my friends are guitarists and someone has to change). I'm 20 and I live pretty close to drumcondra. But yeah anyway if you get a drummer and whatever you need to get some things down give me a shout and hopefully I'll be good on bass by then. **** it I'll even have a go at the singing if nobody else wants to.

    cheers dude.

Sure man yeah, why not. But I'd like a bit of time to actually get good on the bass. Maybe during the summer we can organise a jam, get a few people round, see how it goes.

nothing happened yet. and tbh honest i can't see much happening til I find a drummer...

if that fails i'll teach myself drums to join a band.

I'm a vocalist whose 2 favourite bands are the White Stripes and the Dresden Dolls who are both focused on minimalist music. I'd love to try something out with you, might even look into taking up drums since loads of bands seem to be looking for one.

Right oh, who's up for just getting everyone who wants to do this together if we've got no drums then someone bring something to hit.

I'm a singer who tends not to sing the same thing twice, or at least, not the same way twice... think it'd work perfectly with your guitar style. :)

solo stuff can be found at

and stuff with my old band can be found at
    www.myspace.com/kemosabemusic

I like the sound of this whole thing to be honest... I'm getting a bit tired of digital effects etc etc. Having said that, I'm pretty much up for lending my vocal talents to anything, but yeah, this sounds like a fun project. I need to make some new music, because if I'm left to my own devices I always tend to play my back catalogue or just disappear into a random guitar place.

So yeah, let me know what the craic is with this, though I see you already have a rake of singers.
As far as percussion goes, sure if worst comes to worst we can just bang it out on the aul acoustic guitars. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 861 ✭✭✭deaddonkey

Yeah sure, after my finals though. That'll be june so if anyone offers drums by then great, if not we'll just have a jam.
