Just playing around with First ireland at the moment. Got a quote for my car as main driver <10,000 miles, 817. Forgot last year to mention to them that its not my main car and asked for a quote as a second car and opted for <4,000 miles.

They have come back with 430.

All figures are fully comp, sound fair do you think? I think its OK. Could go for 6k or 2k, think 4 is about right.

car is valued under 20k by them, I'm over 35 and all the usual stuff. Car is 280se coupe so not particuary sporty.

Is that as a main/daily driver? Who's it with?

Its with Carole Nash, its not my main car, although I was not asked to show this.

I'm paying 630 ( i think!) on my '72 2 litre DS for the 10000mile limit fully comp with First Ireland. I was paying 530 with Carole Nash, but with a 4000mile policy which I just about exceed.

    I got a winner deal, €296 fully comp. 3,500 miles/annum, value at €25,000 !

This was through AXA, ask for Myles O'Reilly, he runs the Concours Scheme, he is an enthisiast and can tailor the policy to suit you, higher mileage, higher value blah blah ! You can have multiple classic cars too for very little extra, the logic (yes thay actually use logic for once) is that youy can only drive one car at a time !

I dont think they like "daily drivers" though !

Do Axa require an engineers report. My cover is up on the 9/4 and first ireland don't seem tpo ask for one at renewal time so just wnat to make sure before I approach Axa. Should pass no problem but prefer to avoid the hassle as the difference isn't huge. Thanks for the advice.
