What does everyone think of the line up this year so far? it all seems a bit the same to me, Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack, Groove Armada bla bla. Plus evil Damian Rice and the Frames are playing, who have gigs all over the place all the time. Compared to last year its really not great at all. Although I did hear a rumour that Prince might be playing and the Pet Shop Boys could be fun

Mate....If your judging Groove Armada and Basement Jaxx on their chart stuff i wouldn't worry they are wicked live, i really like The super furry animals too and im looking forward to bloc party, i agree with you on the pet shop boys and prince (if that turns out to be true). You got to remember though they have only named enough bands to cover a day and a half...if that?
I think i could happly go there and spend the whole weekend just chillin out with out even seeing any of the acts and still have a wicked weekend, it that kinda of festival. So dont worry a good time will be had by all!

at the moment it looks like a one day line up, plenty more to come. still waiting for the sign from god that i have to be there. kraftwork and the flaming lips did it last year, but the devil made them play at the same time

I think it below average but just from pub talk last night general consensus out there is it is poor...

I think it's a great line up. Not as good as last year but there are some great bands playing like Antony, Banhart, New Order, Gang of Four, DJ Shadow, etc. I feel like I've got my money's worth already.

The line up is excellent so far. Still cant believe I predicted Pet Shop Boys.. shame I got everything else wrong but I still hold out hope for some late surprise additions. Theyve got to get Mew in.. it will make up for Sigur Ros slipping to Oxegen.

i saw mew here in helsinki last week. great live - although 70% of the audience was 16yr old girls screaming. bizarre.

Are you all crazy! It's as sweet as can be!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are too long coming.
    Super Furry Animals
    New Order
    Belle and Sebastian
    Saul Williams
    Basement Jaxx
    DJ Shadow
    Massive Attack
Graham Coxon (he's gonna be all sugar)

And thats just to start. It's only gonna get better. Damien Rice is entirely irrelevant on such a line-up.
As someone said above, its a festival you cud go to anyway, regardless of the music.

Apparently only around 40% of the line-up has been announced, and I dont think they can announce other names if they're currently booked by other promoters (ie. people appearing at Bud Rising*, Oxegen etc)

    * Bud Rising is different promoters to EP, right?

    makes sense alright.
looks like they haven't released any of the dance lineup yet. i'm presuming they'll go with Bodytonic/Discotonic/whatever they're calling themselves again... the atmosphere in that tent was constantly unreal, not breaking between acts does wonders for not killing the vibe

The thing that's great about the Electric Picnic lineup from my perspective is that there's a fair chunk of bands I want to see that I have never seen before. In fact, the only groups I've seen previously are Bloc Party, The Frames and New Order, so I find it quite refreshing.

Belle and Sebastian, DJ Shadow, Gang of Four, New Order and Yeah Yeah Yeahs top my list. While there are currently no bands that would make me run out to get a ticket today, it's looking good so far.

Gnarls Barkley Added for the Sunday according to myspace.com/gnarlsbarkley.

Cant wait. The single they have out at the minute rules.. And this may lead to others coming on over.. MF Doom, Madlib etc.. Fingers crossed.

That Gnarls Barkley song makes me feel queasy.

If i can get the money sorted I'll go. I'm going for the laugh. However, I'd really like to listen to Antony (NO H - I got it Kealy) play. I'm also a fan of Damien Rice. I think this could be a very enjoyable long weekend.

Gifted is a bit strong, he's good but I'll wait for the next album before you make any decisions about him being gifted or not. The last gigs he played with new songs weren't that reassuring.
