Cheapest way to get Sky+?

What's the cheapest way for me to get Sky+. I'm an existing Sky customer and have no need for multiroom. To upgrade to Sky+ would cost around €450 if I'm not mistaken.

Would it be possible for me to cancel my current Sky subscription and to get Sky+ as a 'new' subscriber for €129?

I've also heard that if you ring Sky and claim your cancelling your subscription that they often offer to upgrade your package for free or give you a few months viewing for nothing to leep you as a customer. Would it be possible to bargain for a cheaper Sky+ upgrade using the same approach?

Why not just ring them and ask?

I have Sky+ and don't really use all the functionality - its a gimmick IMHO. I do use it to record films but I can just do this without it just aswell.

You most certainly can. My uncle canceled his Sky Sub and resubscribed to Sky+ as a new customer in his wifes name. And they got the lower price for being a new Customer. Although I dont know about resubscribing in the same name. I would assume most installers will be happy to arrange that for you as they get commission for new customers.

Watch out for special offers. My brother signed up just before Christmas, and I got a free installation & Sky+ 160 for free in the "Introduce a friend" special offer.

my mother cancelled her subscription and signed up for a new account because the sky+ box broke down

not a bad offer considering it is a brand new Sky+ box and half price for a few months

i thought this didn't work as they generally would match your phone number and see you were previously a customer???

Yup, when ordering a card for a customer before, teh CS woman said that the number I gave was already matched to an existing customer, and wouldn't go ahead with the order.

Maybe just lucky if you get away with it. (Older systems, it wasn't neccessary to give phone numbers). Maybe if your STD codes have changed recently perhaps?
