SE €75 Double Chance last night. Midway through Level 2 I'm second on chips at my table, comfortable on 7k or so. I've taken my second 2000 chips already.

Blinds at 50/100 1 ubershortstack pushes for 275 or so. Chip leader isolates, pushing for 9k or so. I look down and see QQ.

Not much of a read on the villain. He's very aggressive. I already doubled through him by limping into his small blind from the cutoff with AA. I would think he is making this move with any two broadways or any pocket pair. I am 90% certain he doesn't have KK/AA here.

    Call or fold?

Given your read ... its not much of a decision !!

Well if he has AK, then I'm entering a coinflip situation. If I win it, i'll be a massive chip leader. Lose and I'm gone. I think i can outplay him in later hands...

I think you have to call based on your read on the chip leader. It looks like he has small pair by the way he played it.

Unless he is a terrible player, no way he would be raising all in to win 275 if he had a big hand especially not with the blinds so small.

I think the chip leader has made a terrible play and you have to call here.

But your read says - "he probabaly has two broadway cards or a PP".

Yes that includes AK, but it also includes JJ and TT and AQ and AJ.

And if he does have AK its a coinflip situation where you have a 10% edge, AND you have extra value from the shorty.

Yep. That clinched it for me too.

you have QQ, you're 90% sure he doesn't have AA KK..When u CALL here, this is out playing him.

Well the reason I asked was just to see what peoples thoughts are on calling off all your chips early in a MTT in what could potentially be a coinflip situation.

I called after some debate and the rest belongs in the bed beat sticky. Shorty had AKs. Biggy had KJo. Flop brought a K and thats the end of that chapter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 868 ✭✭✭brianmc

could potentially be a coinflip situation.

The word "potentially" is the important one. It is not a coinflip situation until he turns over AK. Before he turns over AK he could have any two broadway cards or a PP so it would appear based on all available information that your chances are significantly better than 50-50.

That is just unlucky. You were big favourite to win the main pot. Got to take those chances to win a tourney as you wont get dealt hands like QQ too often. I would find it hard to throw your hand away at any stage of tourney pre flop. I have thrown away queens before but normally in late stages of tourney to a reraise after my raise against solid players. Have been wrong a couple of times when this happened but was right more often when reraiser showed aces or kings.

This is a situation where I am happy (in a perverted sorta way) to go home early knowing I made the right play, but got sucked out on just.

If you are very confident you are ahead of him (you don't really care about shorty) you have to go with it. Passing this would be letting him bully you when you know you are ahead.

Also, given your position 2 to his right I presume shorty was UTG and idiot was UTG+1 and you BB since you hadn't acted? This makes him even more of a lunatic doing this with KJo.

UTG, UTG+1 and I was the button if I remember correctly.

Well you couldn't have limped from the CO into his sb with AA surely if that is the case? Unless more players moved to your table in between of course.

Not that this is relevant. This is the type of players who always seems to get luck when they need it and mystifyingly get to the FT, sometimes even win it. All in UTG+1 with KJo ffs!!!

No offence BigD - but I hate those 'what if' scenarios. Actually, go on, take offence if you want, I am feeling hungry and grumpy.

    Players had moved.

Your man is a regular Fitz and Merrion player, fancies himself as bit of a shark

Wears sunglasses indoors when there's no sun. Looks a little like

He said he was trying to isolaten the shortstack.

No offence taken. Just putting it out there in the context of the OP. Am in a 'nice-guy-dave tree-hugging' mood. Peace. Raise the Lord.

I dont know who he is. Is there any pics of "eamon" on antesup or elsewhere?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,859 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

I know you aren't eamon. I am just commenting on the fact that we both thought of the same player.

I love playing Omaha cash games against him.

    I doubt it.

Dis he wear a baseball cap, and never stop talking? If so that is probably our man. I haven't seen him wearing the glasses in a couple of months though, so maybe not.

No baseball cap. The glasses were more 70s style aviators.

As well as a bad beat sticky, can we have a coin-flip dilemma sticky as these appear usually once a fortnight and all follow the same format.

    1. Pre-flop Dilemma of whether or not you to take coin-flip.

    2. Someone notes it may not be a coin-flip against the players range.

    3. Someone (usually Gholimoli :D) says that they prefer to pass small edges like this in favour of outplaying all the fish lately.

    4. Someone posts Matt Matros coin flip article.

    5. Player reveals that he did indeed take coin-flip, and lost. Or Player reveals he passed and went onto win the tournament outplaying all the hopeless fish that he has a 90% edge over.

    Repeat To Fade.

We can put all the 'Why is PPP rigged' posts in there too. Thread 101 we can call it.

And all threads that start with "Did I play this badly?"

If people are trying to disguise a bad beat you think they would at least use a more subtle and original thread name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

And all "how can I extract more money with my monster" threads. Oh and all "advice on how to play this hand".

Actually lets merge every thread into one.

You won't be happy to hear that he came back from the brink a couple of times on the final table and went out in 2nd, after I refused a 50:50 split, given that I had a 3:1 chip lead heads up!
